The GHD Philippine office requires a Materials Engineer to support a wide range of civil projects within a multidisciplinary environment. Being part of a dynamic team staff, you will be responsible for supporting external client projects as well as a large number of internal GHD client groups.
This position offers good variety of work and will see you involved in:
Site surveys of existing infrastructure (particular focus on ports, wharves, jetties, piers), including condition / structural assessments
Use of drones, ROVs, digital data capture tools
Site investigations involving the use of destructive (i.e. core sampling, concrete breakouts) and non-destructive testing (i.e. use of Ground Penetrating Radar / Covermeter surveys, steel Ultrasonic Thickness measurements, cathodic protection potential surveys, concrete resistivity)
Management of sub-contractors for site works such as divers, corers, test laboratories
Evaluate residual life of infrastructure based on site inspection findings and detailed testing outcomes
Develop durability strategies for marine infrastructure projects
Materials and protective coatings specification, the development of corrosion protection and design of suitable cathodic protection
Deliver small to medium projects with minimal supervision
Development of remediation design packages including calculations, modelling, specifications and reporting
Site supervision of remedial contractors
Ensure projects have appropriate QA and peer review by technical specialists
Provide technical expertise on jobs and produce inputs to overall remediation designs, specification and contract management and support projects through other PH business groups and Philippines region offices as required
Provide leadership and planning, and coordinate inputs from sub-consultants and other suppliers for materials and corrosion projects
Technical report writing following both client and GHD guidelines
What you will bring to the team
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), having to liaise with clients, contractors, suppliers and other engineering discipline groups on a regular basis;
Experience in remediation in concrete structures;
Asset management background and an ability to manage competing work priorities will be essential;
Strong judgement and critical evaluation skills;
Ideally, we require an ambitious individual who can thrive in a collaborative team environment and contribute to the remediation of existing infrastructure.
