MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
Overall management and delivery of Record to Report, Source to Pay, Tax, Treasury and Statutory Accounting functions from a control and performance perspective. Ensuring the effective and efficient performance of local team and transactional processing functions.
Overall responsible of the financial and statutory accounting requirements for Pearson businesses in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, including tax, audit and treasury responsibilities. Ensure compliance with local GAAP& IFRS for processes managed.
Reviews and approves monthly close process of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Accounting, Sales & Inventory GL Interface prepared by local Finance team and other transactional processing functions outsourced.
Ensuring correct data in Financial Control and Accounting is reported to the senior management.
Coordinate all regulatory compliance for the business in the region.
Manage direct and indirect tax compliances, tax incentives; statutory accounts; statutory audit and corporate secretarial activity performed both in-house and outsourced. Monitor responses provided to tax audits/queries/assessments from tax authorities and address escalations/issues in meeting timelines.
Conduct regular review of operational transfer pricing calculations, related postings and settlement, participate in monitoring cash on hand in Singapore & South Asia entities.
Periodic review of internal controls and communication of changes in global policies to the region.
Lead and highly participates on legal entity rationalization projects, work closely with existing business divisions and integrate activities from various division into main operating entity. Ensuring accurate accounting for all migration transactions.
Engage key stakeholders such as Tax, Transfer Pricing, Payroll, Outsource partners, transactional accounting teams in India and Thailand (AP, AR, GL, Fixed Assets); other key functions such as Integrations; transfer pricing; MIS to ensure flow of information to avoid/address potential issues.
Establish operating rhythm for various activities for all entities in Singapore and South Asia to effectively support various planned / ad-hoc information requests such as group tax provision.
Manage and liaise with company's bankers, lawyers and auditors and Corporate Secretary, tax agents and vendors.
Providing the business with timely and accurate information regarding financial performance.
Offer insightful, value add analysis to assist management decision making.

Qualifications
COMPETENCY PROFILE:
8 years sound knowledge and leadership in Financial Control and Accounting.
Bachelors Degree in Accounting, CPA
Understanding of financial control, business performance management and process optimization and experience of working in more than one of these areas.
Ability to articulate, deliver and be accountable to top management on financial control status and reporting.
Ability to work globally and cross-functionally to lead change in consideration of team accountability in a fast-paced environment
Proven capability to develop and lead high performance diverse teams.
Understanding of finance specialist areas: tax, treasury, M&A, compliance, corporate governance and ability to utilize proper judgement to involve them as necessary.
Understand the principles of change management and demonstrated ability to champion and drive change.
Participation in international projects, may be short or long term (preferred but not required)
Experienced in identifying, evaluating and managing risk and collaborating to drive issue resolution in partnership with internal and external key stakeholders.
Team oriented individual and self-starter who excels at learning new processes and business functions.
Demonstrated integrity within a professional environment.
Excellent written, oral and presentation skills with a strong ability to clearly communicate and present information to all levels of management.
Fluent in English.
Some travel may be required.
