To provide additional in-house legal capability with limited supervision and assisting the Head of Legal and Regulatory on a wide variety of legal matters involving key practice areas: employment, corporate, M&A, data privacy, outsourcing, technology and innovation, and immigration laws.
Primary Responsibilities
Maintain current knowledge of legislation and identify and track relevant regulatory changes and emerging legal issues/risks
Provide practical legal advice and identify relevant legal risks to the business and provide practical solutions and recommendations
Develop and manage litigation strategy and legal cases, including oversight of external counsel's work product and timely reporting of litigation development
Negotiates and drafts various legal documents, including vendor agreements (service agreements, statements of work, or change requests), contract of lease, and acquisition agreements, in accordance with QBE's standard/key legal principles and risk appetite
Maintain and perform periodic review of standard legal contract templates to ensure alignment with QBE's standard/key legal principles
Review and recommend processes, policies, systems, and procedures to ensure adherence to all relevant laws, regulatory guidelines, and Company policies
Legal representation before various government agencies, as required, such as with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Philippine Economic Zone Authority, Board of Investments, Department of Labor and Employment, National Labor Relations Commission, and Bureau of Immigration. among others
Manage legal requirements of, and issues arising from, the operation of a group shared services centre in required geographies
Provide assistance to the Company Secretary and required corporate secretaryship support, such as drafting of board minutes, board agenda, preparation of board meeting materials and board reports, and required coordination with directors and board participants
To assist in the ongoing development of GSSC Legal and Regulatory and its promotion within the organization as a valuable partner and resource to the business and stakeholders in other divisions
To cultivate an awareness of legal risk within the organization to ensure that the business meets QBE's standard/key legal principles
Manage and monitor legal matters/intake process/system, including generation and management of related legal and regulatory reports and legal files management and maintenance
Required Education
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
Required Experience
7 years relevant experience
Required Licenses/Certifications
Licensed to practice law in the Philippines

A team player and self-starter
Ability to conduct complex legal research, investigations, and analysis with regard to a wide range of legal issues
Excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as inter-personal skills
Experience in providing advice to, and direct contact with senior leadership
Ability to use broad knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures to handle complex tasks and/or give guidance to others in this area
Enthusiastic and self-motivated, able to work independently and with minimal supervision, and demonstrate sound judgment in challenging and ambiguous situation
Highly proficient in using Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and other Office 365 tools
Preferred Education
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
Preferred Education Specifics
LLB or JD degree holder
Preferred Experience
With at least 5 years of relevant experience working in a corporate legal department of a multinational/BPO company and/or law firm environment
With experience working in flexible work shifts and/or with virtual/remote teams
Preferred Licenses/Certifications
A member in good standing of the Philippine Bar
Preferred Knowledge
Strong knowledge/familiarity with and in navigating legal issues arising from the application or interpretation of corporate, employment, immigration, data privacy, outsourcing, technology and innovation, and intellectual property laws
Deep understanding of the BPO or shared services operations and risk exposure
