You will be working in a fast-paced start-up co-founded by four successful entrepreneurs with the backing of key strategic investors in the video game industry. We aim to curb toxicity in gaming. We are working with popular online video games to build more positive communities. We are developing a scalable and secure data platform to process large amounts of gameplay, chat, and audio data and building an AI system to help detect different types of toxic behavior and their severity.
As the Lead Software Engineer, you will primarily grow and manage the data engineering team in region and work with other engineering teams to design and build data pipelines. You will collaborate closely with other Engineering Leads, Machine Learning Engineers, Architects, and Product teams to identify, build, test, and deploy data collection, management, and curation tools. You are also responsible for productionizing data manipulation and data management services. You will review requirements with Machine Learning Engineers, Product Managers and Analysts. You will work closely with Engineering Leads and Architects to ensure efficient use of resources and to help ensure proper integration with our broader cloud infrastructure.
We are seeking talented software engineers to join our team. Your responsibilities as the Lead Software Engineer will include:
Recruiting and growing the data engineering team
Work with Architects and Engineering leads to build scalable software
Mentoring team members, providing guidance, and helping the team become as efficient as possible
Overseeing overall tool development to add to our data platform
Overseeing software engineering and the design of various data pipelines
Write effective APIs
Work closely with other developers to help improve the existing codebase and eliminate production bottlenecks
What we are looking for:
5+ years of industry experience as a Software Engineer
Degree in Computer Science or related field
Experience growing and managing a team of engineers
Experience with Python or relevant back-end scripting language
Experience with databases (MySQL,PostgreSQL)
Experience building data pipelines from end to end
Prototyping initial collection and leveraging existing tools and/or creating new tools
Building and deploying scalable data pipelines for production
Experience working different types of datasets (e.g. unstructured, semi-structured, with missing information)
Ability to think critically and creatively in a dynamic environment, while picking up new tools and domain knowledge along the way
Experience with Cloud infrastructure (e.g. AWS) and relevant microservices
A positive attitude, and a growth mindset
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Bonus:
A passion for gaming =)
Experience with open source data processing frameworks (e.g. Spark)
Knowledge of web application development with JavaScript, JSON, HTML5, CSS3, Angular, or React
Experience with relevant Python libraries such as Beautiful Soup, Requests, Scrapy, Selenium
