Job Description
Role Specific:
Oversee small team of technical accountants supporting the Asia Pacific (GMIO) region on consolidation and technical accounting matters;
Monthly Controllers call and regional month end close related communications including closing calendar and new or updated accounting guidance
Edit check reporting and financial statement footnotes
Liaison with BU Controllers, Global Technical Accounting and Corporate close and consolidation teams as needed
Review GMIO's Corporate Journal Entries (CJEs)
Identify, interpret, and analyze potential accounting risks and issues
Review financial analysis on monthly results and special transactions
Identify and lead process improvement initiatives
Lead and/or support global/regional accounting initiatives
Align reporting responsibilities as a result of the CPR implementation
Overall:
Manage/supervise day-to-day operations team, and ensure efficient and accurate completion of activities;
Lead development and implementation of best practice processes to achieve operational excellence and compliance with required accounting standards/ GM policies;
Drive continuous improvement and standardization efforts across teams within the GMIO region;
Work with the Financial Assurance team to ensure an effective compliance and governance process and monitor progress, risks/issues, and ensure a highly effective control environment;
Develop appropriate employee goal setting/CAP and development linked to overall Center objectives and specific job function goals, and focus on talent development;
Responsible for reviewing and increasing the quality of activities owned and performed by the team - understanding current process handling and developing/strengthening it to meet changing business expectations
Proactively raising potential opportunities through leveraging on existing GBS skills and scope
Strengthen strategic business partnership with Controllership teams

Requirements
Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting or related discipline
Minimum 5-8 years of relevant experience in finance industry
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification required
Prior Record-to-Report experience required, regional and/or global experience preferred
Appreciation of multi-national corporation requirements in driving operational compliance and excellence
Working knowledge of SAP
Excellent analytical and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of in situations where only limited standardization exists
Ability to work cross-functionally and multi-culturally
Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office applications
Project manager experience preferred
Willingness to work on mid shift - 3pm-12am (or later), Manila/PH time
