Under the supervision of the Head of Editorial and Production Department, the Junior Editor assists in the performance of editorial and research tasks to support the publication of scholarly works, textbooks, and other publications of the University Press. This includes collaboration with the authors, book cover designers, manuscript reviews, and other individuals or institutions who contribute to the publication of the book.
Job Responsibilities
1. Edits and/or proofreads manuscripts and other forms of copy for scholarly works, textbooks, literary titles, and other product lines for publication, making appropriate revisions, where needed, using applicable software for this purpose.
2. Copy edits/formats content, including front matters and back matters of manuscripts.
3. Checks blueprints/proofing before final printing of books.
4. Coordinates with the immediate head and other service providers on production schedules and printing deadlines.
5. Coordinates with the authors on editorial, design and production aspects of the publications process, including any revisions found to be necessary.
6. Conducts research that may contribute to verifying information contained in the manuscript.
7. Writes a book description for every new book to provide readers an overview of the content.
8. Provides Marketing and Sales inputs on the target audience of the books under publication.
9. Coordinates with Marketing and Sales on providing inputs on the target audience of the books under publication.
10. Assists the Head of Production Department and the Director in other tasks assigned to him/her, including administrative tasks.
11. Performs other work-related tasks as may be assigned by his/her immediate superior.

Bachelor's Degree
At least three (3) years of related work experience
Knowledge and skills of software application for Publishing and Graphic Arts
