We're looking for a Xero specialist to join our finance team to support basic bookkeeping and junior accounting functions across our core business and portfolio of UK and USA-based subsidiaries - all of which use Xero for their accounting.
You should have a minimum of 3-4 hands-on experience using Xero on a daily basis and be comfortable with all aspects of the platform.
Furthermore, you should have multi-company experience and be able to demonstrate working knowledge of inter-company reconciliation.
You will work closely with our VP of Finance and outsourced accounting partners to ensure all our transactions are reconciled, inter-company reconciliation is completed and our month-end accounts are reconciled and delivered on time.
Key Responsibilities
Reconciliation Tasks in Xero:
Regularly update and maintain financial records in Xero for our core business and subsidiaries
Reconcile invoices, bills, and payments to ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded
Setup and reconcile inter-company invoices and ensure accurate reconciliation between companies
Identify and rectify any discrepancies or inconsistencies in financial entries
Ensure that all bank and credit card accounts are reconciled to the company's books
Setup and management of Dext to ensure invoices and receipts are automatically integrated into Xero for reconciliation
Financial Record Maintenance:
Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including but not limited to:
Monthly accruals and prepayments
Monthly fixed assets update and depreciation journal
Monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations
Monthly inter-company transactions and reconciliation
Expenses processing
Year-end audits
Maintain an organized and streamlined accounting system
Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and standards
Collaboration & Communication:
Work closely with the senior accounting team to ensure accurate financial reporting
Liaise with other departments to ensure the seamless flow of financial information across the company
Address any inquiries or concerns related to Xero and the reconciliation process
Continuous Improvement:
Stay updated with any changes or updates in the Xero platform
Recommend improvements to the reconciliation process to enhance efficiency and accuracy
Requirements
Qualifications, Skills and Abilities:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is a must
Proven experience (3+ years) with Xero accounting software is a must
Ideally studying towards ACCA, CIMA or equivalent professional qualification
Excellent Microsoft Office skills (Excel and Word packages)
Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering financial information
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and to strict timelines in a fast-paced, demanding, and dynamic environment
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
