Description
Human resources (HR) officer develops, assists and advise on and implement policies relating to the effective use of personnel in the hospital. He/She must aim to ensure that the hospital employs the right balance of staff in terms of skills and experience, and that training and development opportunities are available to employees to enhance their performance and achieve the hospitals aims.
HR officer must be involved in a range of activities required by hospital in the employment of people. These cover areas such as working practices, recruitment, pay, conditions of employment, negotiation with external work-related agencies, and equality and diversity with the following work activities;
• working closely with all departments and assisting them to understand and implement policies and procedures;
• promoting equality and diversity as part of the culture of the hospital to all employees;
• coordinate with all department heads involved in policy areas such as staff performance and health and safety;
• recruiting staff - this includes developing and preparing job adverts, checking application forms, short-listing, interviewing and selecting candidates;
• Assist the HR Director in developing and implementing policies on issues such as working conditions, performance management, equal opportunities, disciplinary procedures and absence management;
• Assists in preparing staff handbooks;
• Aids in advising on pay and other remuneration issues, including promotion and benefits through proper communication and channeling;
• Takes part in regular salary reviews;
• Checks correctness of payroll and maintaining employee records;
• Participates with grievances and implementing disciplinary procedures;
• Assists in planning and delivering training, including inductions and orientation of new staff;
• Assists in analyzing training needs in conjunction with departmental heads.
