Job Purpose
The Head of Reporting and Analysis in Assistance understands the strategic data and analytical needs of the programme with data analytics to enable programme leaders to make evidence-informed decisions. This person supervises, directs and produces data and analytics technical deliverables, ensuring adequate level of quality products. This function manages a team of analysts in the Shared Service Centre and fosters a data driven culture. It will require strong knowledge of functional area programming, data management and analytics.
Main Responsibilities
Oversees global coherence of the métier data & analytics, developing and leveraging data and analytics to ensure operational / institutional relevance and enable evidence-based decision-making at the program level to drive operational performance
Create high quality, actionable, strategic analyses and reports on a recurring and ad-hoc basis using internal and external data, to enable evidence-based decision-making at the division level
Assumes accountability for institutional reporting requirements for donors in close collaboration with the programme specialized units, Resource Mobilization and the delegations
Assist the division on consideration of appropriate performance measures, management concerns and improvements in the functional area of expertise
Manage the life cycle of dashboarding objects (validation, publishing, consistency, maintenance, deletion) and the content catalogue
Support and contribute to the definition of best practices for data and analytics, development of standards, guidelines and templates and continuous improvement measures
Ensure the continuity and smooth transition of reports and dashboards and the supply of management's information needs through changes in tools and the compatibility of data mart structures with these needs
Closely collaborate and align with the Digital Transformation & Data and the Digitalization of Operations teams on data compliance and analytics subjects and participate in the data and analytics governance groups
Closely engage with technical and functional stakeholders for dependencies and cross-cutting, transversal initiatives
Engage with the HR and Administration departments for all centre needs and responsibilities, on behalf of the team
Manages a team of Data & Analytics Managers, holding regular touchpoints to ensure the optimal coordination of work and the proper flow of information
Selection Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in statistics, mathematics, finance, economics or a similar technical field
With 10 to 12 years' overall professional experience, 5 to 7 of which are direct experience in data management & analytics, including 2 to 3 years working for an international organization
Thorough knowledge of functional programming data and indicators
Technical knowledge of data management, including data modelling, and relevant programming tools RDB programming (SQL, Oracle Rdb), statistical packages (SAS, SPSS, R) and front-end tools (Tableau, QlikView)
Your Profile
Strong analytical and organisational skills, with an ability to tell the story behind the numbers
Good verbal and written communication skills in English and French, particularly with multi-cultural stakeholders. Spanish language proficiency an asset
Project management and change management experience is an asset
People management experience
Experience in a humanitarian context is an asset
