To provide leadership and effective management of the Finance function within established Company policies and in alignment with AIG' s global finance guidelines while providing value added support to the management team in meeting its business objectives. This role covers insurance operations in the Philippines, Guam and Micronesia.
Among its key responsibilities are:
· Provide necessary reports and information to the local Board and Audit Committee to allow its members to effectively carry out its oversight function on the management of the business of the Company and meet the corporate governance objectives of the Company.
· Collaborate with the country management team by ensuring timely, accurate and relevant financial information are provided as tools to aid them in achieving business goals and objectives. Serve as advisor to the team in the areas of technical accounting, annual budget process and multi- year planning, capital management, financial evaluation of long range and short term strategies, programs and projects, financial regulatory frameworks, investments and other related matters.
· Manage in-country Finance team and offshore Finance Center team to ensure timely and accurate delivery of all financial reporting requirements of the corporate office and as mandated by regulatory agencies. Ensure that all processes and systems supporting the Finance function are optimal in relation to the requirements of the operation.
· Ensure level of capital is always adequate but not excessive based on the regulatory requirements and the need of the business. Work with corporate office and product leaders to ensure there is optimal reinsurance cover provided internally by corporate office and externally by accredited reinsurers.
· Interface with different functional leaders to ensure that internal controls established across the enterprise are operating as planned to minimize operational risks. Coordinate with respective functional leaders the remediation of control deficiencies noted from self-assessment and audits conducted by internal, external and regulatory auditors.
· Manage relationships with local regulatory and tax authorities and ensure responses to inquiries are within stipulated timelines. Ensure any audit requirements are properly and timely addressed.
· Work with internal and external auditors to ensure all information are made available to allow them to carry out a smooth audit of the affairs of the company in order to properly assess any deficiencies that require immediate remediation.
· Ensure that all tax returns produced by Finance Center and in-country teams are reviewed, signed-off and filed on a timely basis to avoid penalties.
· Coordinate annual budget process to ensure all functions receive the necessary guidance and submission of budget information are made timely to ensure completeness of consolidation of country budget.
· Manage invested assets to comply with the investment guidelines set by the Investment Committee and render report to the Committee through the quarterly committee meeting.
· Provide oversight on local banking relationships and ensure that the Treasury function is compliant to mandates provided by Global Treasury.
· Develop, motivate and retain Finance talents
Desired capabilities includes:
· Financial and Strategic Acumen: Sound knowledge of the local regulatory and tax environment. Able to collaborate across functions and can communicate well with others. Ability to explain complex financial information to non-financial colleagues.
· Managerial Leadership: Able to work cohesively in a matrix structure managing experienced senior finance managers. Able to manage and work with local regulatory authorities.
· Technical Skills: Good understanding of the local accounting standards and tax and regulatory requirements. Excellent problem solving skills. US GAAP skills are preferred.
