The Role:
The Head of Broadcast Operations role in Manila is a pivotal senior role for our global Broadcast operations at HWW.
This role has a primary focus on production operational excellence and oversight, innovation and optimization, and the governance of global broadcast production priorities and KPIs, continuous improvement in processes and ways of working, and recruitment and team management within the Manila team.
The successful candidate will act as the face of the Manila Broadcast team for all of our global Hogarth Broadcast teams.
The key attributes of a senior leader in this role include - an entrepreneurial and solutions orientated mindset, a passion to explore opportunities to perpetually innovate and optimise with particular focus on automation and agile ways of working, accountability for all the Broadcast GDC operations, proactive risk identification and mitigation, excellent communication and management skills, and a future planning outlook.
This role reports into the Operations Director of the Manila GDC.
Responsibilities:
Key operational responsibility of the broadcast team at the Manila GDC, including adherence to KPIs for the below priorities:
Staff Cost Ratio
Quality
Utilisation
Productivity
Sourcing
The Head of Broadcast Operations - Manila will be responsible for establishing, developing and maintaining a world-class 24 hours a day, 5 days a week broadcast operation that is geared to servicing Hogarth WW's global teams.
Primary responsibilities will be working closely with the various broadcast team leaders to lead, co-ordinate and line manage the operators. This includes Editors, Media Transfer Operators, Motion Graphics and VFX Staff, and Bookings.
Hire, train, and manage all broadcast production staff
Oversee budgeting, planning and resource allocation of all projects
Oversee all studio activity. This includes but is not limited to:
Ensuring producers and scheduler are working together to assign appropriate talent
Financial and technical oversight of all productions
Ensuring all production activities are on-time and on-budget
Implement processes that assure that all projects are delivered with flawless execution and attention to detail
Act as escalation point for post-production issues and implement positive conflict resolution techniques
Ensure efficient utilization of broadcast and anticipate potential challenges with staffing and resource availability across projects.
Act as main point of contact in recruiting post-production talent
Create/maintain strategic relationships with external post-production facilities for overflow
Career development, performance evaluation, performance management, mentoring and implementation of succession planning for all direct reports.
Collaborate with account and client teams to ensure creative productions meet client expectations and remain on brand message
Ongoing review of broadcast process and practices with an eye toward enhancing profitability and increasing effectiveness including a key focus on innovation and automation
Identify, support and drive automation opportunities to minimize manual workflows
Establish relationships with global stakeholders in an effort to drive collaboration
Problem solve production and technical issues with production and technical support team
Identify revenue opportunities on existing client business and participate in new business development activities
Collaborate with Finance to ensure our broadcast operations are operating to optimum profit
Career development, performance evaluation, performance management, mentoring and implementation of succession planning for all direct reports.
Contribute to Hogarth Worldwide Manila office agency culture by exhibiting ownership, professionalism, passion and leading by example
Requirements:
Exceptional English language competency - both written and spoken
10+ years of agency and post-production experience
Related college degree
Proven ability to manage an offshore post-production facility
In-depth understanding of the post-production process including budgeting, editing visual effects, color correction and sound production (including broadcast video production)
Knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud, and an understanding of other production software including Autodesk Flame, Nuke, Davinci Resolve, and Avid Protools would be beneficial.
Expertise in broadcast technologies
Experience of leading innovation and automation optimisation type projects in this space
Strong line manager with ability to hire, retain, and develop staff
Thorough understanding of post-production business model, ability to create accurate time of staff estimates, and manage budgets to client/agency expectations
Must be commercially astute and able to work in a fast-paced, fluid environment
Strong interpersonal and leadership skill set to influence the direction and attainment of objectives
Experience with complex decision and planning processes
Ability to present, teach, coach and mentor colleagues
Ability to conduct presentations comfortably to large groups
Effective communicator with all levels of the organization
Collaborative professional, self-reliant, good problem solver and results oriented
Can do attitude and an ability to thrive in a high-pressure, ever changing and dynamic work environment
