Position Summary:
The position leads the turnaround operations in all ports of call across the globe.
The Manager, Guest Port Services vets, plans and develops the guests port services and, port operations in all geographical regions.
Takes ownership of the bidding process of port agencies, port vendors, ground handlers, airport facilities with the assistance of V-Ships and, Azamara's internal stakeholders.
Has operational and, financial responsibility for guest port services and, port operations, including the management of all port agencies and, port relationships. The manager ensures that the port services and, port operations for Azamara are effectively and, efficiently planned and, operated and, potential bottlenecks are timely identified and, addressed.
Overall accountability of the overall guest experience in all Azamara turn ports including airport meet & greet, pier staffing, check in, and, boarding. Ensures that Azamara's Go Further standards are always maintained.
Accountable for achieving the overall financial and non-financial KPI's for the department.
Will compose and maintain all relevant SQM's and, Operating Policies as they relate to Guest Port Services and, Port Operations
Position will be the leader of two (2) Analysts, Guest Port Services
The role will work closely with the relevant shipboard leaders. Collaborates with shoreside stakeholders in Hotel Operations, Marine Operations, Land Operations, Finance, Sales & Marketing.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
Position leads, directs and collaborates with the two Senior Analysts, Guest Port Services.
Ensures team is developing the turn-around program in all turn-around ports of Azamara.
Travels to new & existing turn-around ports to conduct site inspections and oversee airport and, terminal operations. Meets with ground handlers, port agents, vendors.
Vets turn-around ports & makes all terminal facilities are meeting the established metrics and, standards for Azamara Guest Port Services.
Solicits and, negotiates applicable contracts with the ground handlers after conducting data driven, competitive price & performance analysis.
Initiates frequent communication before each turn-around with the Senior Analysts, GPS as well as the shipboard leaders namely the Hotel Director, the Staff Captain, HR Manager, Guest Relations Manager, Chief Housekeeper, IT Manager and, other key officers.
Is responsible for the preparation, set up and, execution of the entire guest embarkation and, disembarkation process in the terminal. Works closely with land-operations to ensure the transportation to and, from the ship is fully organized.
Monitors and, evaluates turn-around inspections through site inspections, shipboard reports and, Medallia ratings & comments. Constant focus on improvement through the analysis of feed-back and, consequent corrective action.
Full situational oversight is expected during extraordinary events in the ports such as delayed arrivals, multiple ship turns, and, other challenging circumstances in turn-around ports, in ports of calls, itinerary changes, medical emergencies, weather calamities, outbreak prevention. Brief leadership on impact, action and, follow up.
Maintains the relationships with the port authorities, in close collaboration with V-Ships
Liaises and communicates with internal and, external stakeholders to ensure all facets related to port operations are well aligned. Internally, this includes marine operations, deployment, land operations, finance, IT and, other departments. Externally, it entails especially V-Ships as well as Port Agencies, Government entities, and other vendors.
Develop strategic plans and, consequent objectives to optimize the operations in the ports ensuring readiness for the arrival & departure of the Azamara vessels. Communicates timely regional challenges to ensure proper follow up & support from the various stakeholders.
Interfaces closely with Marine Operations & Deployment about berthing arrangements, port & quay operations.
Is a key contributor to the preparation and, compilation of the annual operating & capital budget for Port Operations and, Guest Port Services.
Ensures that Guest Port Services and Port Operations operate within the set fiscal targets. Constantly explore cost efficiency opportunities in order to play an integral part in the organization's profitability.
Conduct new contract negotiations with port authorities and vendors, closely working with internal key stakeholders, especially Marine Operations, Deployment and, Finance as well as V-Ships in order to yield the most beneficial fiscal terms for the Azamara brand.
As an integral member of the Azamara Hotel Operations team, actively leads various special projects and, other assignments and, performs any other duties as required.
Experience, knowledge, skills
This role requires a candidate with a hands-on attitude. This role requires a candidate that is flexible and open to extensive travel and, long days during visits to the port of call. The ability to build and maintain relationships, problem resolution and, adaptability to extreme, unusual circumstances is critical for this role.
A minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in a guest port services, port operations or cruise guest operations.
Full understanding of cruise guest port services and, operations.
Highly self- motivated with the ability to perform well under the pressures of a busy, demanding environment.
Strong understanding of financial management, budgeting.
Ability to negotiate pricing, contracts.
Ability to read, analyze data and, make data driven decisions.
Strong communication skills. Ability to respond to common inquiries and, concerns from guests, regulatory agencies, members of the business community.
Strong working knowledge of computer systems such as Microsoft Office Suite and, the adaptability to learn organization specific software.
Ability to be on call 24/7 as operationally required and, work in weekend if needed. Last, unexpected travel may be required at times.
Ability to travel internationally to ports is at a minimum 25 %.
