The Group Financial Reporting Accountant reports to the Group Finance Manager and will ensure accuracy and completeness of Statutory and General Purpose Financial Reporting requirements for the Cardno Group as reported to the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX). The role will also involve the preparation of foreign subsidiary Statutory Financial reports, in accordance with local reporting requirements; preparation and review of month end consolidation files and board reporting; managing audit requests; monthly reconciliation and analysis of foreign exchange impacts; preparation and review of balance sheet reconciliations, and the implementation and ongoing reporting of new accounting standards.
Job Description:
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Preparation of Statutory and General Purpose Financial Statements within required timeframes for lodgment to the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX)
Preparation of Statutory Financial Statements for foreign subsidiaries of the Group in accordance with local reporting requirements
Preparation and/or review of the monthly Group consolidated management accounts and movement analysis in line with the required month-end timeframes
Preparation of monthly cash flow statement as reported to the Board
Preparation of monthly covenant reporting as reported to the Board
Preparation and/or review of monthly general ledger reconciliations
Monitoring and ensuring the Cardno Groups' intercompany accounts are in balance on a monthly basis
Providing information to the external auditors and the Group Finance Manager to assist with timely completion of half-yearly audits and financial statement preparation
Assist with the reporting requirements of IFRS16 Leases for the Group
Monthly reconciliation of Foreign Currency Translation Reserve and analysis of unrealised and realised FX movements
Championing best practice, as well as consistency with the rest of Group Finance and the Cardno Group in financial control, reporting, and analysis.
Understand and keep up to date with Group Finance financial policies and procedures and the Group Finance Manager's expectations
Resolving and reconciling various issues using initiative and strong communication skills
Build strategic relationships with appropriate Cardno stakeholders to assist in the delivery of your role
Seek opportunities to improve processes by contributing to the improvement initiatives
QUALIFICATIONS:
Tertiary qualifications in accounting or commerce
CPA, CA (or equivalent) preferred
At least 5 years' experience in senior finance roles
SKILLS:
Extensive Statutory Financial Reporting experience, preferably with an ASX listed company
Strong knowledge of and ability to interpret International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
Strong analytical and problem-solving capability with strength in providing insight and recommendations
Effective communication and collaboration skills
Strong attention to detail
Evaluation and improvement experience - Utilise experience in the evaluation and improvement of productivity, efficiency, and effectiveness of service delivery and supporting processes
Time management and planning - Work independently under limited supervision, manage a high volume of work and assess priorities, plan activities and organise workloads to achieve objectives and meet strict deadlines
Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
