Position Title: Geograhic Information System Assistant
Summary Scope of Work: The USAID-assisted Energy Secure Philippines (ESP) Activity aims to assist the Philippine Government in pursuing development in the power sector. It has the three-fold objective of improving the performance of electric utilities, increasing the deployment of advanced energy sources and systems, and improving the energy procurement process.
Hence, USAID ESP Activity is engaging the services of part-time GIS Assistant to support the work of the GIS Supervisor in the collection of GIS data. The GIS Assistant is expected to be flexible, accessible, and communicative during this time.
Reports To: USAID ESP Chief of Party (COP)
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
All staff members of RTI, regardless of the level of their responsibilities are expected to model RTI's mission, vision, and values.
Supports GIS Supervisor in the provision of GIS day to day database development
Implements and coordinates GIS data collection efforts
Data cleaning and quality checking
Provides enumerator training
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in geography, urban planning, engineering, or similar field required.
Master's degree in geography, urban planning, engineering, or similar field preferred.
Preferably a resident in General Santos City
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in GIS project implementation.
Working experience with electrical distribution preferred.
Advanced knowledge of ArcGIS and QGIS platforms including the processing algorithms that come standard with each software.
Working experience in the following geodata formats: ESRI File geodatabase, ESRI shape files, Spatial-Lite, PostGIS, KMZ, GeoJson and GPX.
In-depth practical understanding of geographic information systems including development of simple geo-databases, data geoprocessing; and numeric, algebraic and statistical analysis of geospatial data.
Working knowledge of Android mobile data collection including design Qfield, ODK or similar software.
Ability to lead and support field teams for data collection processes.
Ability to work independently without significant oversight required.
