WHAT DOES A GENERAL ACCOUNTANT DO?
As General Accountant, you will work remotely and must thrive in a decentralized work environment. This means that you are a highly motivated individual who can confidently and capably operate with a high degree of autonomy. The responsibilities for this role are varied, and because of this, you must be capable at managing multiple priorities, stakeholders, and deadlines. You will be working with, and supported by, a team that includes a Client Accounting Manager, a Finance Manager and a Finance Director. As a team, you will be responsible for delivering the experience of a well-resourced in-house accounting team, remotely.
This role reports to the Finance Manager. This is a billable position in the business. The target utilization is 85%.
The General Accountant will be responsible for the following:
Posting of all Accounts Payable (project related and overhead related) including posting to project management system where applicable
Reconciliation between the accounting system and the project management system when required
Posting of all Bank and Credit Card transactions
All monthly bank and credit card reconciliations
Weekly or biweekly payments to suppliers
Regular follow up with Client on missing supporting documentation
Employee Expense reimbursements
Cash flow forecasting
HST, EHT, WSIB Filing and Payment and Corporate Tax Installment Payments
Responding to emails at the accounting@client email within 48 hours of receipt
Other projects as assigned
Qualifications
Prior working experience in a fast paced, service-oriented environment, ideally with some project accounting experience,
Must have skills in QBO, Xero, Bill.com, Hubdoc, Plooto, Dext, Asana or similar software
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines and stakeholders
Ability to communicate effectively (over email, Slack, Zoom, Google Meets)
A dedicated space to work remotely
Work hours - 9am to 6pm EST
