Position Overview:
The General Accountant will play a crucial role in maintaining the financial health and transparency of Uma Nota. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of accounting principles, a keen attention to detail, and a commitment to meeting deadlines.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable:
Ensure that all invoices from suppliers are verified and processed in a timely manner.
Make certain that all payments are dispatched on or before their due dates.
Reconcile supplier statements and handle any discrepancies.
Tax Compliance:
Prepare and submit all necessary tax documents to the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) before the deadlines.
Stay updated with the latest BIR regulations and ensure Uma Nota's compliance.
Liaise with external tax consultants as necessary.
Management Reporting:
Compile, analyze, and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
Provide detailed insights on food and beverage costs, operational expenses, and net profit.
Collaborate with upper management to highlight trends, potential risks, and opportunities.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.
Compare budgeted costs to actual costs, analyze variances, and recommend corrective actions when necessary.
Cash Flow Management:
Monitor bank balances and ensure that there are sufficient funds for operational needs.
Forecast cash flow positions and related borrowing needs.
Internal Controls:
Develop and maintain internal control procedures to safeguard company assets.
Ensure accurate and timely recording of transactions.
Audit:
Facilitate internal and external audits, ensuring all required documents are provided.
Implement recommendations provided by auditors.
Continuous Improvement:
Recommend changes to improve the financial systems and processes.
Stay updated with accounting best practices, standards, and regulations.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
At least 5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in the restaurant or hospitality industry - but not necessary.
Proficient in accounting software and tools.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
