Grammar Electrical is a New Zealand electrical & plumbing company with 75 years experience delivering exceptional customer service across the commercial, industrial & residential sectors. We are also helping other companies build their virtual assistants team by providing offshore resources to them.
The Role
As a General Accountant, you will be tasked to prepare journal entries, reconcile financial statements and accounts, process payroll entries, ensure data accuracy as well as compliance to professional and regulatory standards. Your primary responsibility is handling and recording internal financial transactions as well as financial transactions of the company.
The role will report administratively to the Finance Manager based in the Philippines while reporting functionally to the Financial Controller of NZ Build Group.
This role provides plenty of opportunity to showcase your abilities on Accounting Principles and Practices, Financial analysis, Data Accuracy and Accounting Systems and be part of the pilot team of offshore resources of NZ Build Group.
Duties & Responsibilities
Prepares journal entries relating to amortization, depreciation, accruals and a variety of other financial information.
Checks the correctness of accounting entries and performs account reconciliation for balance sheet and expense accounts
Checks payroll and contractor pay computations and related transactions
Drives closing the monthly book of accounts in a timely manner, and ensures the monthly reports adhere to applicable Accounting principles
Performs account analysis to make sure that entries and balances are correct
Files tax forms and other required documents for NZ and/ or PH
Processes supplier invoice payments and ensures prompt and accurate payment
Provides assurance that Account information complies with professional and regulatory standards
Ensures company's Financial information supports budgeting and forecasting requirements and can provide solutions to mitigate rates
Can conduct self-audit to maintain truthful and precise Accounting data
Work Hours:
Mondays to Fridays 9:00AM - 6:00PM NZT (45 hours/week) or 5:00AM to 2:00 PM PHT
Educational /Professional Requirement:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting; CPA holder an advantage
Qualifications / Skills:
At least 3 years experience in Accounting function
Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping
Must have knowledge of GAAP and basic accounting principles
High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
Proficient in Xero is desirable
Proficient in Microsoft Office is an advantage
Can communicate well in written and oral English Language
Proactive and can work with less supervision
An absolute commitment to customer service and follow-up
A positive "can-do" attitude
Ability to implement own systems, good organisational and time management abilities
Follows instructions independently
Has a high sense of responsibility, dependability, work ethics and integrity
Technical Requirements:
For this role, you will need your own & backup laptop/desktop with video (i5 processor or higher) and dual monitor setup
Internet Connection of not less than 50MBPS
