The General Accountant is responsible for providing support that allows for accurate financial reporting and month-end close with generally accepted accounting principles and in compliance with financial policies.
Major Responsibilities
Performs pre-month end close activities as follows: accruals of unposted invoices as of month end, intercompany reconciliations and posting of necessary adjustments, bank account reconciliations, cash in transit (pass through accounts) reconciliations, and process other entries/adjustments necessary to execute month end close activities.
Performs post-month-end close activities as follows: first-level review of material/critical accounts reconciled by blackline preparer as required in blackline, GR/IR reconciliations including adjustments and clearing, journal entry postings and preparation of calculations to support bookings, and clearing of GL account balances to ensure that only "open items" are retained in the ledger.
Participates in all regular post-month-end close reviews to revisit process, discuss issues and propose solutions.
Performs compliance with the revenue testing by ensuring that all supporting documents are provided and communicated to the auditors or compliance team.
Responsible for the preparation and analysis of intercompany out-of-balance reports
Ensure compliance with all finance policies and internal controls
Responsible for the recording, accounting, reporting and timely capitalization of capital projects
Responsible for completeness and accuracy of fixed assets sub-ledger and month-end closing activities such as account reconciliations, journal entries, and adjustments
Perform other ad-hoc financial analyses and administrative activities that may be assigned by the General Accounting Supervisor and General Accounting Manager from time to time.
Required Experience:
At least 2-3 years of progressive financial experience in public accounting or Audit firm
Experience in a shared service or BPO environment is preferred
Highly proficient in MS Office applications and SAP systems
Detail oriented and demonstrates ability to consistently meet tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Results-oriented; proactive and independent
Strong interpersonal skills -ability to communicate to all levels in the organization and across functions
Strong analytical and business problem solving skills
Preferred Competencies:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
Certified Public Accountant (preferred)
