Job Description
About the Role:
As a front end software engineer at FGI, you'll develop elegant, intuitive, and performant end-user product features for multiple fast-growing e-commerce sites. You'll work closely with designers, product managers, and marketers to translate business needs and growth opportunities into technical solutions - which you'll iterate based on metrics and customer feedback.
We are an expanding team with an abundance of growth and influence opportunities. You will work directly with the engineering head of the company (an ex-Google engineer) and help to set the team's culture and technical direction.
You will:
Implement the features and user interfaces of e-commerce websites and internal tools
Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to scope and own projects throughout their lifecycle, from inception to supporting production
Experiment and iterate on features based on metrics and customer feedback
Architect efficient and reusable front-end systems that drive complex web applications
Identify and drive changes as needed for assigned codebase, product area and/or systems
Identify and resolve performance, compatibility and scalability issues
Participate in the engineering process: design/code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and technical training
Qualifications:
B.S. degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
2+ years of professional experience with web/frontend development.
Experience with HTML/CSS, Javascript, browser APIs, and optimizing front end performance
Familiarity and expertise with at least one modern JavaScript-app framework (e.g. React, Vue.js, Ember, Angular, or Svelte)
Experience with unit, integration, and end-to-end testing
An interest in mentorship, learning from others, and digging into new challenges
The ability to work with other roles such as designers, product managers, data scientists, marketing, and business development, to bring together a great experience-driven product
Preferred, but not required:
Experience with event tracking and web analytics
Experience using Git/Github for version control
Experience testing your code with a modern JavaScript testing framework (e.g. Jest, Cypress, or React testing library)
Familiarity with back end technologies (e.g. Flask, Django, Ruby on Rails)
Familiarity with the AWS platform (e.g. S3, Dynamo, Cloudfront, RDS, Elastic Beanstalk)
