About the group
As Canva's reach continues to skyrocket, we aim to make Canva the go-to place for all design needs on the web. This involves providing our millions of users with the best design and copy to help them unlock the full potential of our customizable templates and elements.
We're looking for a business writer to produce relevant and well-written copy for Canva's growing library of business templates. Examples are invoices, letters, letterheads, memos, newsletters, presentations, proposals, reports, and resumes, to name a few. Assignments are given on an as-needed basis and must be submitted by the set deadline. This is not a full-time role.
Canva offers a vast collection of customizable templates for various design types, themes, and topics. These templates, found on our templates page and the editor, are professionally designed layouts that feature stunning elements from our massive media library and high-quality copy relevant to each design's purpose or user preference.
Template copy refers to the text featured on these customizable layouts. Writers are sent the category (design type) and subcategory (theme) for each template request. Their responsibility is to supply the copy or text following provided project requirements and Canva's writing guidelines.
This is a rare opportunity for writers who thrive on working independently and are looking to develop their craft by challenging themselves creatively.
About the candidate
Canva is home to over 50,000 professionally designed layouts, with the library growing as we continuously craft new templates to meet our global users' ever-changing needs. Whether they're for evergreen documents, videos, or seasonal and trending designs, we need to ensure that there are relevant and usable templates for them.
Each template campaign needs high-quality copy. As a copy contactor, the candidate will be tasked to produce these to provide our designers with a starting point in creating templates on a regular basis.
What you'll do...
Write unique and relevant copy for a range of business template categories, including invoices, letters, letterheads, memos, newsletters, presentations, proposals, reports, resumes, and more!
Ensure each output adheres to Canva's copywriting criteria, writing best practices, and the project's unique requirements.
Adapt to Canva's empowering, friendly, and informative tone.
Consistently meet the required minimum output by the specified deadline.
Work remotely and report to Canva's Copywriting Specialists for template copy projects.
You'll love this role if...
You're an experienced business writer with an excellent grasp of sentence construction, spelling, and grammatical structure in English.
You have a good understanding of what professionals, businesses, and companies need, applying those learnings and best practices to the business copies you produce.
You are meticulous with details, style, and tone, writing with clarity and empathy to deliver what is needed.
You are quick with ideas, coming up with original template copies that can catch our user's eye while meeting Canva's voice and brand guidelines.
You have a good understanding of what Canva users need, applying those learnings and best practices to the copies you produce.
You can understand a brief from stakeholders, research accordingly, and convert that brief into excellent template copy to meet the project's needs.
