As a growing company, we are constantly evaluating how best to expand our network. A Fixed Network Planning Engineer will be responsible for evaluating the best mechanisms for us to accomplish this, following high level strategic direction. They are responsible for engaging with stakeholders across the business to evaluate build/buy/lease options and create business cases to allow prioritization of competing plans.
Responsibilities
Work collaboratively with technical and non technical stakeholders, both internal and external to the Group
Collate information and create reports/business cases and insights to support our fixed network expansion processes
Identify areas of uncertainty or roadblocks within designs and business cases, and perform cost analysis based on alternate solutions
Provide clear documentation and support to the Project Management and Implementation teams in the case a business case is approved
Analyze existing network deployments and seek optimisations
Work with vendors and our Carrier Team to acquire network coverage maps from our partners and centralize this information
Develop policies, standards and guidelines for fixed network development and planning
Develop and communicate plans to drive forward our expansion strategy and related change planning
Qualifications
5+ years experience in Network Planning, Network Design, Project Management, and related roles
Technical knowledge relating to Fiber-based Telecommunications Networks
Understanding of IP Network Protocols
Able to think critically in high-pressure situations
Can be trusted to complete work without supervision and take responsibility for work items
Can make sound decisions and can back it up with logical reasoning
Travel may be required

Our network team is on a mission to deliver fast and reliable data services while providing a remarkable experience to customers both external and internal.
We achieve this by ensuring we have balanced our available capacity and connections so they are never congested. You can see a map to check the real-time performance of our networks. We continuously optimize our network to reduce downtime and increase speed; and optimize our systems to ensure network visibility and effective management.
We hold ourselves accountable in our commitment to our customers, by being responsive to their concerns and transparent with our performance.
We use automation wherever possible, to ensure consistent, high quality implementations, as we respond and operate in a highly dynamic environment.
Our network is heavily based on Juniper routers and switches, running MPLS with RSVP and BGP, and we peer densely to ensure we have control over our traffic. We also operate GetaFIX, the second open internet exchange in the Philippines, which is part of our dedication to improving the internet not just for RISE customers, but for the rest of the country as well.
You will be working with a diverse team of skilled engineers, some have started their careers with RISE and others who have many years of experience both locally and abroad. We focus on having a supportive environment and ensuring all team members receive experience across a broad range of tasks - the better they know the network, the better they can support our customers.
