Job Summary
You will be responsible for updating the Fixed Asset Register (FAR) classification, updating asset effective lives and depreciation rates, and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting and taxation principles. You will play a crucial role in updating key records, reconciling differences, and the ability to turnaround the deliverable quickly and accurately within a 2-week period. There is potential for the role to extend beyond the short-term assignment based on performance.
Accountabilities and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
General Responsibilities
· Reclassification: Analyse and review circa 20,000 financial transactions to determine appropriate reclassification entries and make necessary adjustments.
· Depreciation Checking: Validate and verify depreciation rates applied to fixed assets, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and organisational policies.
· Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of financial reports in relation to asset depreciation comparison over different financial years.
· Compliance Assurance: Monitor and enforce compliance with applicable accounting regulations, policies, and procedures (i.e. Australian Accounting Standards and Australian Taxation Office (ATO) guidelines).
· Documentation: Maintain accurate and organised financial records within the FAR.
· Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimisation and efficiency enhancements within the financial accounting and reporting function.
Qualifications
· Relevant degree level qualification (Business / Commerce)
· Experience with Fixed Asset Registers and depreciation calculations
· Excellent Microsoft excel skills (large dataset and complex formulas)
· Excellent communication skills
· Strong knowledge of FAR accounting concepts and ability to comprehend quantity surveyor (QS) reports
· Ability to work efficiently with strong attention detail
· Knowledge of Australian taxation principles relevant to assets (highly desirable)
