Description:
A Financial Statement Auditor / Advisor reviews client's financial statements, documents, data and accounting entries. S/he validates information from a client's financial reporting systems, account balances, cash flow statements, earnings statements, balance sheets, tax returns and internal control systems. S/he plans and completes financial statement audits; identifies inadequate, inefficient, or ineffective internal controls; recommends improvements and completes audit documentation.
Financial Auditor / Advisor tasks and Responsibilities
1. Designs the risk-located audit program / plan using common standards of practice, company policies, business goals and industry regulations.
2. Assesses compliance with accounting standards and internal controls by executing risk-located audit program steps.
3. Completes audit work papers and memoranda by documenting audit tests and findings.
4. Communicates audit progress and findings by providing information in status meetings; highlighting unresolved issues; reviewing working papers; preparing final audit reports.
5. Add value to clients by recommendations to address root causes noted in financial statements audits (i.e. in the internal control structure and in operating processes).
6. Confirm a company's or individual's financial statement records (i.e. revenue streams, account balances or debt obligations) by reviewing databases and other financial sources of information.
7. Document all audit processes; list all data sources; detail all conclusions after an investigation/audit.
8. Maintain a high level of expertise and skills within the field by participating in professional development.
9. Contributes to team results by welcoming new and different work requirements; exploring new opportunities to add value to the organization; helping others accomplish related job results as and where needed.
Requirements:
Financial Auditor / Advisor Education and Training Requirements
· At least a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
· Preferably, Certified Public Accountant or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)
Financial Auditor / Advisor practice Requirements
· At least 2+ years of practice as a Financial Statement Auditor or in a similar function.
