GoTeam is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Financial Accountant to join our team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in managing the financial aspects of our apparel brand. This position requires expertise in UK VAT, EU IOSS VAT filings, multi-channel COGS recognition, and proficiency in financial software such as Xero and Apparel Magic.
The client is a sustainable children's clothing brand based in the United States, offering high-quality, ethically made apparel for kids. Their clothing is made from natural materials such as organic cotton, linen, and wool, and they work with small, family-owned factories in Portugal and Peru to create their clothing. In this position, you will be:
Executing UK VAT and UK Payroll processes efficiently, utilizing the Xero accounting system.
Handling EU IOSS VAT filings through designated agents, ensuring compliance with regulations.
Managing multi-channel COGS recognition for our extensive range of apparel products across various currencies.
Performing regular accounts reconciliation on a weekly basis to maintain financial accuracy.
Generating comprehensive financial reports, including balance sheets and income statements.
Tracking accounts payable and oversee the generation of accounts receivable invoices.
Gathering and monitoring financial data, such as sales revenues and liabilities, to support decision-making.
Preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for review.
Forecasting costs and revenues to aid in strategic planning and budgeting.
Ensuring timely and accurate tax payments are made in accordance with applicable laws.
Organizing and participating in internal audits to maintain financial integrity.
Developing budgets for the entire company and individual departments.
Monitoring and reporting on accounting discrepancies, taking corrective action as necessary.
Analyzing financial trends to provide insights and recommendations for improvement.
Executing month-end and year-end close processes with precision.
Undertaking additional tasks and responsibilities as needed to support the finance department.
Skills and Qualifications:
Proficiency in navigating and executing UK VAT and payroll processes with precision
Demonstrated experience in working with e-commerce platforms such as Shopify and Wholesale channels
A background or prior experience in the apparel industry is highly advantageous
Familiarity with EU IOSS VAT filings through designated agents, including a strong grasp of the associated regulations and reporting requirements.
Proven ability to manage complex multi-channel COGS recognition
Demonstrated expertise in accounts reconciliation, including a strong track record of ensuring financial accuracy and integrity
A strong command of financial software systems, with a particular emphasis on the Xero Accounting system
Familiarity with the Apparel Magic software is highly desirable
Proficiency in Shopify is a prerequisite for this role
Proficiency in data analysis using Excel and Google Sheets, enabling the extraction of actionable insights from financial data.
