The Financial Accountant reports to the Group Finance Manager and will ensure accuracy and completeness of month end journals and balance sheet reconciliations, provide assistance during end of financial year external audits and half year reviews, distribution of weekly FX rates to the Group, responding to general accounts queries and the accurate and timely completion of surveys from external agencies.
Job Description:
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Complete month end close responsibilities within expected timeframes, including processing standing monthly journals and actual vs budget analysis of Group results.
•Perform monthly general ledger reconciliations, including balancing all intercompany accounts and maintaining the Blackline reconciliation system.
•Administering the Blackline reconciliation system for the Group and resolving queries as they arise.
•Providing information to the external auditors and the Group Finance Manager to assist with timely completion of half yearly audits and financial statements.
•Completing external Surveys on a regular basis in a timely and accurate manner.
•Prepare and distribute weekly FX tables across the Cardno Group.
•Upload Group Finance vouchers (invoices) into BST finance system as required.
•Seek opportunities to improve processes by contributing to improvement initiatives.
•Championing best practice, as well as consistency with the rest of Group Finance and the Cardno Group in financial control, reporting and analysis.
•Understand and keep up to date with Group Finance financial policies and procedures and the Group Finance Manager's expectations.
•Resolving and reconciling various issues using initiative and strong communication skills.
•Build strategic relationships with appropriate Cardno stakeholders to assist in the delivery of your role.
QUALIFICATIONS:
•Tertiary qualifications in accounting or commerce.
•Minimum 3 years' experience in an accounting role.
•Strong analytical capability with strength in providing insight and recommendations.
•Strong communication and collaboration skills.
•Evaluation and improvement experience - Utilise experience in the evaluation and improvement of productivity, efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery and supporting processes.
•Time management and planning - Work independently under limited supervision, manage a high volume of work and assess priorities, plan activities and organise workloads to achieve objectives and meet strict deadlines.
