Nexford University (NXU) is looking for an experienced Financial Accountant to monitor all financial data and prepare accurate statements for the company.
Financial Accountant responsibilities, along with managing the transaction landscape of working capital, will also include budgeting and ensuring all financial processes in place are efficient and effective. You will be called upon to conduct cost and revenues analyses and understand how the transactions relate to the business commercially. You will be reporting directly to the Global Finance Director
Ultimately, you will ensure all our accounting transactions comply with the law and support our strategic road-map.
Key responsibilities:
Assist senior staff and external accountants and advisors as needed. For example; gathering general business information, review of accounting transactions, accounts payable with decision support, manage documentation. Audit friendly.
Support with various financial reporting including updating cash flow forecast, budgeting, revenue and expense reporting
Set up weekly bank reconciliation - cash monitor/dashboard until this is automated
Generate management accounts monthly initially manually and eventually systematically
Manage global accounts payable working with the rest of the Nexford team
Liaison with UK payroll provider and payroll globally
Provide ad-hoc administration support
Offer suggestions/recommendations on how to improve the paper trail workflow processes and procedures;
Any other duties as may reasonably be allocated from time to time.
The ideal candidate:
Graduate of bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Economics or any equivalent
Certified Accountant is a must
At least 5 years of Financial Reporting and Analysis, Accounting, Audit experience
Okay to work during UK business hours
Experience in Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) is a must
Experience working in an international, startup organization, preferred
Excellent Excel skills (Advanced with familiarity in using Analytical tools)
Competencies/Skills:
Proven work experience as a Financial Accountant or similar role
Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and accounting software Xero
In-depth understanding of business bookkeeping procedures
Solid knowledge of accounting regulations in the UK and US
Excellent math skills with an attention to detail
Time-management abilities
Strong business sense, high level of integrity, commitment, work ethic and values
Ability to communicate effectively at all levels and lead others through change and new strategic initiatives
Influencing and networking skills
Effective presentation skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
