Financial Accountant responsible for the preparation of accurate and timely financial, securitization and Educational Provider's (EP) reports in accordance with relevant accounting standards, regulatory requirements, statutory laws, Trust documents and EP requirements. This role is also responsible for reporting and analysing Financial and non-financial KPIs to assist decision-making and achieve corporate targets.
Responsibilities:
Process journals and prepare end-of-month and year-end reconciliations ensuring high levels of accuracy. This includes but is not limited to cash-in bank, receivables, clearing, fixed assets, accruals, and revenue accounts.
Collect, prepare and analyse weekly performance results of loan products, including tracking against budget and providing insightful commentary.
Facilitate the daily disbursement/sweep, management of all inbound email communications from students, and Educational Providers, including plan cancellations, reporting requirements, and ad-hoc tasks.
Assist in preparation of weekly security warehouse cashflow forecast and end-of-month securitisation reports.
Assist in preparation of department reports, monthly debt financiers and management reports, including tracking financial performance against budget and insightful commentary to assist achievement of strategic plans
Assist in preparation of mid-month and end-of-month securitisation and Payment Assist Reports.
Assist in statutory and audit engagements.
Assist in preparation of BAS, Payroll Tax and Income Tax Returns;
Assist in collecting information required in the preparation of financial model and annual budget.
Assist team members and other departments in investigating operational issues, driving continuous process improvements and automation projects in financial reporting & analysis and financial accounting activities.
Perform administrative-related duties and responsibilities
Requirements
A minimum of 3 years experience as financial accountant or financial analyst.
Previous experience with Big 4 or Mid-tier audit would be viewed advantageously.
A good understanding of accounting principles and Australian accounting standards.
Intermediate to advanced computer software skills, including Excel, Netsuite and other financial software and tools for reporting and analysis purposes
Working knowledge of the Finance industry and securitisation is desirable.
Experience with SQL and SQL stored procedures would be highly advantageous.
Ability to manage own workload while working towards deadlines
Ability to work unsupervised and with other staff members in various locations
Effectively manage stakeholders on expectations.
Developed verbal & written communication skills, including the ability to persuade, negotiate and resolve conflict.
