Financial Accountant - Inventory
Aterian is a rapidly growing technology-enabled consumer products company with a portfolio of a dozen (and growing) specialty brands that leverage proprietary technology to design, develop, market, and sell products. We are looking for a Senior Accountant who is ready to take the next step in their career.
This role is crucial to our accounting teams' goals over the next 12 months to improve our month-end close cycle duration. You will be working closely with the Senior Director of Accounting, and Logistics teams to bring your expertise in inventory accounting processes to improve the timeliness and accuracy of recorded inventory transactions, collating the necessary information to appropriately identify and account for reconciling items.
Responsibilities
Liaising with operations to ensure timely and accurate recording of inventory transactions (i.e. goods receipt, transfers between locations, shrinkage)
Recording landed costs on import transactions
Preparation of inventory reconciliations and leading investigation of unexplained differences between on-hand quantities and accounting records
Responsible for performing the month-end close process around inventory, cost of goods sold, and related key accounts, including preparing journal entries
Monitoring finance reports for the timely identification of performance deviations for inventory
Assist in preparing for the annual audit process as it relates to inventory
Assist with other projects as needed
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting,
Inventory accounting experience of 4-8 years or more required,
Excellent communication skills with the ability to interface at all levels both internally and externally,
Advanced Excel skills
