ROLE PURPOSE
The Finance Officer is responsible for ensuring that the Program Office effectively meets the financial management standards and reporting requirements of Save the Children, the project and the funding agency.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
At least college graduate on accountancy
With at least 3 years work experience in accounting
Understanding of save the Children's vision and mission and a commitment to its objectives; willing to adopt Save the Children methodology and framework in program implementation; abide by and implement Save the Children's Eight
Experience of working in planning, monitoring and evaluation, audits or a similar field in an emergency organisation or emergency setting with practical experience of developing impact assessment systems and also undertaking evaluations.
Demonstrate understanding of monitoring, evaluation and accountability initiatives in the humanitarian sector.
Excellent verbal and written communication and relationship building skills in order to deal tactfully and sensitively with a wide range of people in a large organisation and at a distance.
A flexible and initiative-taking attitude with the ability to manage and prioritise an unpredictable workload.
Proven analytical and problem solving skills in order to understand the range and content of the emergency programmes' work and provide practical solutions to operational challenges.
Ability to work effectively and calmly in a high-pressure environment and to prioritize and effectively manage assignments in a timely fashion
Must be highly motivated and must possess initiative, discipline and a clear work ethic
Strong sense of urgency and work ethic.
Understands and believes in Save the Children's mission and vision; commits to its objectives and willing to adopt Save the Children's methodology and framework.
