DO
The essential duties (tasks and activities) that the individual performs in a job or role
Record Keeping, Reporting & Analysis
• Responsible for ensuring the overall accuracy and recording of accounting activities and
transactions of the company in accordance with internal policies, controls, procedures
and in compliance with mandatory government requirements
• Reviews and approves monthly statements by collecting data, analyzing and
investigating variances; summarizing data, information and trends
• Responds to financial inquiries by gathering, analyzing, summarizing and interpreting
data
• Provides financial advice by studying operation issues, applying financial principles and
practices, developing recommendations
• Prepares executive and shareholder reports by collecting data, summarizing, studying
variances, preparing budgets and developing forecasts
• Responsible for payroll process and petty cash claims
• Prepares annual budget together with the management team
• Provide variance and cost analysis report to monitor actual cost and expenses against
budget/business plan and highlight improvement areas in terms of cost savings
• Maintain and update a Finance Scorecard that records and tracks historical and current
financial position and ratios, analyzes trends and provides sound recommendations to
the management team
• Leads monthly and quarterly review meetings with accounting staff
• Leads monthly and quarterly review meetings with management of supported stores
Audit, Compliance & Control
• Complies with government requirements by studying regulations, adhering to
requirements, advising management on required actions, estimating and forecasting
tax payments, assembling data for regular filings
• Substantiates financial transactions by auditing documents
• Financial Planning & Analysis - budget setting, target monitoring, forecasting, variance
analysis
• Cost/Tax optimization - accurate and complete taxes recorded and remitted
• Financial Risk Management - Ensure that the business has proper and reasonable
comprehensive insurance, a comprehensive credit facility with banks, and regular and
accurate cash flow report to monitor liquidity
• Financial and Operating Controls - Ensures proper controls are in place including check
& balance, clearly set level of authority for purchasing disbursement, cash
management, etc.
• Monitors and manages purchases related to fixed assets, including tracking of life and
depreciation
• Highlight to immediate superior if there is any weakness in internal controls and
suggest improvement - to assist in continuous improvement of Financial operation
systems and ensure the Company's internal controls are adhered to and complied with.
• Develops, owns and improves internal finance processes and drives business process
improvement
• Protects and ensures data privacy
Treasury
• Ensure timely settlement of company's financial obligations and receivables
• Ensure proper recording of cash transactions
• Manage company's working capital in accordance with company's policies and targets
• Manage exposure to risks in accordance with company's policies
• Manage liquidity risk by exploring available credit facilities
Team Leadership
• Guides accounting clerical staff by coordinating activities and answering questions
• Handles escalated concerns on financial discrepancies raised by junior accountants by
collecting and analyzing account information
• Develop and conduct training and onboarding for accounting staff and operations
managers as required
Other
• Updates job knowledge by participating in learning opportunities, keeping with current
financial regulations, reading professional publications, participating in professional
organizations
