WSP, a world leading management and consultancy firm, currently have an exciting opportunity for a Financial Analyst to join the Workplace Finance and Management.
The Finance Analyst works closely with the Finance Business Partner to create a trusted partnership between finance, operations andmanagement of a business unit. The Finance Analyst will provide financial and analytical support for the business unit.
What you'll do:
Business partnering
A key point of contact for financial matters for the respective business group.
Work closely with, and under supervision of the Finance Business Partner in the areas of project financials, working capital management and optimisation of financial outcomes.
Major project reviews and monitoring project exceptions for the group.
Obtain a good understanding of the company's financial systems and data sources to assist with decision making.
Business performance management and reporting
Contributing to the P&L integrity for components of the business, including a variance analysis.
Monitor and investigate P&L items to achieve high integrity.
Prepare accruals and accounting journals to ensure costs and revenue figures are appropriately recorded.
Provide various reports and information for the Finance Business Partner and management to assist in managing financial performance.
Monitor and investigate operational expenditure variances.
Planning and analysis
Assist in preparation of the annual budget and collating detailed bottom up inputs.
Assist in the preparation of quarterly forecasts including review and entry into the company's planning solution.
Ad hoc analysis for the business group to support the business unit management and regional management needs.
Compliance and control
Ensure the project accounting and administrative setup is in accordance with revenue recognition policy.
Liaise with the Compliance Manager, ANZ to deliver financial records and evidence for NI 52-109 (Canadian SOX equivalent)
Point of contact for the Group's external auditors for project testing and revenue recognition samples.
Maintain an objective position on judgemental areas of project finance to support WSP's needs.
What we'll love about you:
2+ years experience in an accounting environments with good understanding of accounting principles.
Strong excel and business intelligence (BI) reporting capability.
Knowledge of business planning tools (e.g. TM1, Hyperion Planning, Cognos) would be advantageous.
Good systems knowledge including large ERPs (e.g. SAP, Oracle), MS Office, Power-BI and KPI reporting.
Proven verbal and written communication skills when interacting with senior executives to identify and resolve issues
