Overview
Arch Underwriters Europe Ltd. is seeking a Financial & Data Analyst to join an established team managing a significant and growing book of delegated authority business. The successful candidate for this role will be primarily responsible for providing support in the financial oversight of the delegated authority portfolio. The work will be heavily accounting and financial reporting focused.
The role will require a candidate with strong analytical and numerical skills, a high level of computer literacy, with a strong focus on attention to detail. They will need to be self-motivated, well organized, able to manage projects and prioritize a broad range of activities. They will be required to interact with multiple other functional areas aside from finance including underwriting, claims, actuarial and senior management based in Bermuda, Zurich and Dublin.
Responsibilities
Creating and binding submissions on underwriting system, preparing analysis thereof, and filing supporting documents
Understanding business terms and reinsurance protections for each delegated relationship
Monthly bordereaux reconciliation and data integrity checks
Obtaining and processing underwriter estimates on underwriting system
Booking and reconciling XOL premium accruals on underwriting system
Quarterly review of validations performed by the Insurance Manager
Analysis of quarterly large loss recoveries
Preparation of quarterly financial metrics exhibits and related inputs
Reconciliation of funds held balances
Review and analysis of cash receipts, payments and applications
Provide information required by the Insurance Manager for compliance and regulatory purposes
Develop existing accounting and transactional templates to assist the onboarding for new business
Qualifications
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of applications, with advanced Excel and Access / SQL skills
Able to work independently and be a problem solver
Ability to follow direction and work towards goal
Required Skills/Experience
Ideally qualified/part qualified accountant, at minimum meaningful insurance accounting experience
Experience in the insurance industry or within an MGA, ideally within Motor insurance
Experience in handling large policy level data sets
Experience in calculation and management of complex reinsurance arrangements
Experience and ability with solving quantitative problem
Education
A university degree, preferably with a numerical focus (4 year degree in Mathematics, Economics, Business/Business Administration, Statistics, Humanities or related discipline)
