Job Description
Responsibilities
Establish ServiceNow configuration database as the source of truth for CI information and ensure users and processes have access to accurate, timely and actionable data.
Finalize data imports into the CMDB from ServiceNow Discovery, 3rd party sources (Lansweeper, JAMF, Tanium, and other ad hoc loads in the configuration management module..) etc.; rationalize, normalize, and plan data cleanup where appropriate.
Assist in performing ServiceNow Discovery and Service Mapping processes and troubleshooting the errors that arise.
Ensures the quality of the CMDB data is maintained and all CIs are current and correct through the ownership of compliance and audits
Identifies unclassified CIs, extend classifiers as required for newly discovered items
Evaluates requests for new CI classes, CI attributes, and CI relationship types
Engages with strategic projects to ensure Configuration Management can deliver required functionality
Mentors the organization on configuration management services, concepts, policies and procedures.
Collaborates and helps direct IT specialists through leading community of practice
Develops, runs and delivers reports as required
Job Requirements
Skills and Qualifications
Required:
College degree or the 4 years of equivalent experience
2 years of experience in an Information Technology focused role
Moderate breadth of knowledge across all aspects of infrastructure devices (i.e., server, network device, network protocols, application technologies, operating systems basics)
Have an understanding of hardware and software asset management practices and how those processes integrate and synchronize with the CMDB
Experience with CSDM 3.0 or 4.0
Ability to convert complex information into simple, explainable solutions with a results-driven focus and a preference for practical applications
Understanding of current and future business needs met by infrastructure platforms
Ability to provide expert advice to teams and support them to deliver large projects
Preferred
2 years' experience with the ServiceNow CMDB and Discovery and how it supports other ITSM processes
ITIL Foundation certification v4
