The Electrical Safety Officer is the primary consultant in electrical safety and performance standards. He/she is responsible for the general service of the electrical system including conducting routine maintenance, performing repairs, identifying faults or hazards, troubleshooting system failures, and ensuring strict adherence to safety programs.
Duties and responsibilities
Serve as the primary focal point for electrical safety in sites.
Provide consultation, assistance, and facilitation for safe electrical work.
Reviewing blueprints to understand wiring placement.
Provide Sign and Seal for all the approved electrical plans and as-builts
Develop and maintain up-to-date electrical safety programs and procedures for field operations.
Conduct assessment of electrical safety programs and identify corrective actions as needed.
Promote and participate in periodic safety meetings for addressing job-related electrical safety issues.
Disseminate electrical safety information and incident reports to line management and team members.
Conducting random inspection and investigation of electrical work areas to ensure application of safety-related work practices.
Spearhead audits/assessments of the electrical safety program as needed.
Provide support as needed to all other aspects of occupational safety including OSHA compliance evaluations, accident and incident investigations, program development and training.
Qualifications
Knowledgeable in reading technical drawings and electrical schematics
At least 1 year working experience in the related field
With basic occupational safety and health training
Knowledge in government compliance
With good moral character and strong leadership
Preferred
Degree/certification in relevant area
International experience
Professional Driver's License
Familiar with fiber fusion splicing
Familiar with OTDR, power meter, VFL and insertion loss testing
Electrical and Telecom Technician experience
Strong documentation skills
Working conditions
Travel may be required
Overtime may be required to meet deadlines
Shift schedule as determined by line head
On-call duties will apply
After hours obligations may apply
When needed, may be required to climb poles, go through building vents, manholes, and similar areas
When needed, may have to lift heavy objects or machinery
