The Director, Variable Life Operations, will provide oversight and implementation of Penn Mutual's variable products, platforms and services. This position is responsible for consulting with internal business partners to ensure a sufficient controlled environment for the business. Director, Variable Life Operations will provide leadership oversight of Variable Universal Life personnel and administrative functions. This position requires extensive variable life insurance product knowledge.

Responsibilities
Understand and execute on the business strategy with the ability to pivot as needed.
Lead front line associates in a fast paced and with their day-to-day production responsibilities.
Improve employee performance and accountability by adhering to performance management cycle, providing appropriate training opportunities, timely & accurate merit reviews and developments plans and guidance.
Administer and adhere to metrics and measures program including both quantity and quality components.
Establish and maintain strong field partnerships, keep a pulse on field engagement and increase the level of field satisfaction.
Develop and build effective and strong relationships with field offices and ensure that team members are responding to field requests thereby maintaining a customer-focused environment within the parameters defined by the process
Analyze operational workflows to identify and implement system and process efficiencies.
Manage the processes and procedures to ensure appropriate handling of all applications including compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Ensure that process controls are in place and monitored and measured regularly.
Ensure that outstanding case requirements are promptly identified and communicated to field offices and producers.
Develop processes and procedures to aggressively follow up on outstanding requirements and ensure prompt application of initial premium when all requirements have been received.
Meet speed of service and quality goals for each task /function and contribute to overall team goals.
Participate with Product Marketing, Compliance, Production Services and Underwriting in the development of new products involving Special Services, including product design, creation of forms and system testing.
Manage the implementation of training and formal documentation produced by the training specialist.
Stay abreast of changes due to laws and regulations which affect activities of the business such as buyers' guides, free look process and variable processing.
Required Skills
Extensive knowledge of new business systems and processing, products and field distribution systems.
In-depth understanding of state & federal regulations, including IRS policies, NAIC model illustration regulations.
Solid understanding of variable life insurance business with a strong focus on end to end processing from new business to post issue service.
Must demonstrate superb coaching and mentoring skills with the ability to energize and engage team members.
Ability to empower, self-motivate and seek continuous process improvements.
Creative problem solving experience and positive "can do" attitude.
Ability to seek process improvements and embraces change willingly.
Excellent organizational skills, ability to set priorities, work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong presentation skills.
Strategic thinker with the ability to articulate and drive a clear vision to team members.
Ability to make a positive contribution as demonstrated by learning new skills and making suggestions for process/procedure improvement.
Ability to work with others in a cross functional collaborative team environment.
Required Experience
7-10 Years in the financial services industry supporting variable life insurance products
minimum of 5 years' experience in a leadership role
Licenses and Certifications
FINRA Series 6 and FINRA Series 26
Education
Bachelor's Degree

Base Salary Range: $103,000 - $150,500
