Director of Engineering based in Manila, Philippines will help establish and support a transition planning, training, and management program for the company segment in Manila as the company segment establishes an engineering presence for including:
Key Accountabilities:
Fostering a high-performance engineering culture that embodies the company's values.
Drive program KPI development, measurement, and transition management programs for engineering squads that are staffed in Manila transitioning software development, application development, and delivery capabilities from incumbent global squads.
Work in close partnership with the Canada segment technology leadership team to embed the right hiring, agile engineering practices, and transition management programs.
Lead Canada Segment engineering transition efforts in Manila including working closely with the leadership team to progressively mature our practices and continually improve all aspects of the software delivery process with the aim to progressively augment the velocity of the team. This includes the ongoing management of team knowledge, performance, adherence to best practices, and non-functional areas such as velocity, knowledge management, succession planning, delivery, and, reliability.
What we are looking for:
5+ years related engineering or software delivery experience with the expectation that you are a hands-on practitioner.
5+ years leading engineering teams and building diverse and inclusive engineering culture where team members are highly collaborative and willing to learn and grow.
Familiarity with Agile and DevOps principles, test-driven development, continuous integration, and other approaches to accelerate the delivery of new features.
Understanding of software development lifecycle and how technology supports business strategy.
Prioritizes efficient knowledge and succession planning and measurement by using data-driven analysis, recommendations, and patterns.
Good organizational and problem-solving abilities that enable you to manage through creative abrasion.
Good verbal and written communication; able to effectively articulate delivery, transition management vision, possibilities, and outcomes.
Ability to coach and mentor technical teams including providing on-the-job coaching and advice
Ability to collaborate in a complex matrix environment and across time zones
Decision Making Authority
Performance Reviews for squad and value stream Engineering Managers, Anchor/Technical Lead Engineers.
Team ongoing performance management across all metrics.
Lead the implementation of the transition strategy supporting the software delivery strategy for Canada in Manila and work in collaboration with Canada Segment Technology leadership to drive ongoing improvements and increase the value created by the site.
Drive transition planning, training, and ramp-up measurement strategies to ensure the application knowledge set of the team remain fresh and up to date, to enable epic and feature development performance to improve.
Key Performance Goals/Measurement
Time for a new engineer to reach full productivity.
Time for the new squad to reach full productivity.
Productivity of the engineering team.
Retention of talent.
Retention of knowledge.
