The DevOps Engineer supports the migration of applications from on-premise servers to cloud (AWS) by being part of a collaborative team that assess and strategize the refactoring or rehosting of applications. The DevOps Engineer acts as the Cloud Governance body that defines set of policies and standards to maintain cloud infrastructure, security, cost, service reliability and continuous improvement. The DevOps Engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to streamline and automate the integration and deployment processes (CI/CD).
Responsibilities
Collaboration
Participate in the infrastructure design process together with the development team to migrate applications from on-premise servers to AWS
Collaborate with internal teams such as IT, development, engineering for seamless implementation of solution
Interact with contractors and 3rd party partners to ensure their cloud operation needs are met
Cloud Governance
Balance performance demands and cloud services costs by tracking cloud spending
Identify security risks and mitigate by developing governance policies such as least privilege, vulnerability scans, server patching, encryption, etc.
Track application and infrastructure efficiency by implementing scalability and elasticity
Automation
Streamline CI/CD by developing automation tools that eliminate manual effort and to detect and resolve potential problems before they degrade.
Standardize pipelines across product groups with gated mechanisms for security vulnerabilities and automated testing
Research and propose new technology solutions (e.g.: microservices design, cloud infrastructure/deployment, OAuth implementations)
Operations Support
Document existing and new technology infrastructure, knowledge-based articles, processes, and procedures
Provide operational support for software deployments and production incident response
Define business, application and infrastructure metrics and implement monitoring and alerting
Required Technical Skills * 3+ years strong experience in a DevOps role working with cloud platform (AWS)
3+ years of experience using CI Tools (Jenkins, CircleCI, CodeDeploy) and source code management (Git, Github, Bitbucket)
5+ years of IT System administration with compute (Linux | Windows), network (firewall, VPN, SSL, HTTPS, TCP/IP), storage, access control and security
Proven record of developing automated deployments using tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Chef, Puppet.
Familiarity in creating dashboards and alerts in monitoring tools such as New Relic, Elasticsearch, Grafana
Fluent in one or more scripting languages - Shell, Python, Powershell
Worked with containerization such as Docker or Kubernetes
Has background with Incident, Problem, Change and Release processes
Good To Have Technical Skills: * Has knowledge in automating Unit Testing and Load Testing
An understanding of databases (NoSQL, MySQL, RDS Aurora)
Worked in an Agile software development environment
Experience with the .NET technology stack
Familiar with Web Servers (Apache | NginX) and Load Balancers (HA Proxy | NginX)
Familiarity with APIs
