Job Description
In this role, you will be working closely with the business and the rest of the development team in the design, coding, configuration, testing and implementation of system changes.
Involvement in a number of initiatives such as projects, BAU delivery, software upgrades and business-driven enhancements
Performing application development, system and infrastructure configuration and unit testing for in-house as well as third party (vendor) applications.
Being responsible for producing and reviewing e.g. development / work estimates, technical/functional specifications as well as documenting and executing implementation plans
Building relationships and working closely with the business on delivery of system and/or application changes
Providing production support as part of the DevOps team and swiftly finding solutions to issues
Assisting with process improvements and integration of new technologies
Regular project/task status reporting
To be successful in this role, you will need to have previous experience in Application Development with a passion for quality in work output and results, continuously improving processes/practices, open and adaptive to change. You should thrive in a fast-paced environment and be able to quickly learn new skills. You should have strong technical knowledge in core Java, SQL, advanced UNIX and SQL scripting, and AWS cloud. You should also have extensive knowledge and experience in implementing application changes to a diverse customer base.
Key skills should be
3 years of experience in the following technologies:
Languages / Frameworks: Java, JSP/Servlets, Hibernate, JavaScript, Maven, Struts, Spring, WebServices, jQuery, Unix Scripting
RDBMS: Oracle, Sybase or MS SQL
Tools: Eclipse, SVN, GIT
Operating System: UNIX, Windows
AWS experience and/or certification will be regarded
You must have strong analytical skills and attention to detail, including the ability to document and analyze complex information and data
You have strong verbal and written communication skills
Excellent problem-solving skills and an ability to multi task
You are striving to deliver quality work on time and on budget
Comfortable working independently as well as being a team contributor
Willingness to learn new skills
You can adapt to new circumstances and changing priorities in a constantly changing environment.
Other Skills
Experience with the following vendor solutions are considered advantageous:
eGRC platforms such as IBM Open Pages, ServiceNow
Reporting tools - Cognos, Business Intelligence and similar
Experience with work management tools such as Remedy, JIRA, Confluence
Domain knowledge and/or experience in Financial Services or Risk Management
