Key Responsibilities:
Job Purpose (Purpose why the position exists in theorganization. A summary of the duties and responsibilities of the job.)
Responsible in the maintenance and testing of Substation andLine Protective Devices, System Integrity Protection. Scheme (SIPS) relays,Protection Management System (PMS), Control and Monitoring System Devices,Auxiliary. Power System (Direct and Alternating), Network DisturbanceMonitoring Equipment (NDME) and other secondary devices; Ensures dependabilityand security of all protective relays, control system and secondary devices.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibility1: MAINTENANCE& TESTING OF PROTECTION AND SECONDARY DEVICES
Performs Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Corrective Maintenance (CM) ofprotection and secondary devices..
Tasks:
1. Implements PM and CM activities of Protective Relays,Tele-protection, PMS, NDME, SIPS relays, Auxiliary. Systems such as StationBatteries and Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), Control and Monitoring Systemequipment and other secondary devices of substation.
2. Implements Fault Clearance System (FCS) inspection of substations.
3. Implements re-setting of protective relays as necessitated by changes in thepower system parameters.
4. Implements integrity testing and calibration of protective relays.
5. Implements Functional Testing (FT) of protection, alarm, control, andinterlocking circuits.
6. Analyzes plants and substations wiring diagrams, equipment operatingmechanisms, instrument manual and other technical data pertaining to protectionand secondary devices.
7. Implements troubleshooting on all protection relays, associatedcontrol/alarm circuits, and tele-protection during emergency situations.
8. Implements corrective works of equipment with audit findings done byinternal or external entities.
9. Retrieves and analyzes fault and event records to evaluate protectionoperations.
10. Coordinates with System Operations (SO), plants, District, Substations,P&E and other groups in the
conduct of the above tasks.
11. Prepares and submits technical reports to comply with corporaterequirements.
12. Explores alternate solutions, evaluates, recommends and implements measuresto enhance the
performance and effectiveness of protective relaying and control system.
13. Prepares, analyze and submit test reports / service reports.
Responsibility2: TECHNICAL SERVICE PROVISION
Implements technical services to internal and external customers.
Tasks:
1. Implementation of request from internal and externalcustomers.
2. Prepares test reports, relay coordination, and diagrams upon request ofinternal and external customers.
3. Ensures customer satisfaction.
Responsibility3: SECONDARYDEVICES ASSET MANAGEMENT
Ensures the reliability, accuracy and functionality of secondary devices.
Tasks:
1. Validates if the grid and sub-grid protective relaysettings and configuration are updated and correct.
2. Validates that the operation and functionality of equipment are accurate andreliable.
3. Ensures updated equipment data versus actual installed assets.
Responsibility4: SAFETY ANDQUALITY MANAGEMENT
Ensure that activities are fully compliant with NGCP safety/quality standards.
Tasks:
1. Complies with applicable regulations and NGCP standardson safety and quality.
2. Strives for the continuous improvement of NGCP processes necessary for theachievement of corporate objectives.
3. Upholds corporate policies and guidelines
Requirements:
• (applicable license and/or certification) RegisteredElectrical Engineer or Registered Electronics and Communication Engineer)
• (professional experience) At least three (2) years of relevant experience
•Technical knowledge in protective relays and secondary devices
• Ability to operate test equipment and tools
• Ability to analyze/interpret electrical diagrams
• Technical knowledge in troubleshooting of electrical circuits.
• Good supervisory and decision-making skills
• Planning and organizing skills
• Knowledgeable in Computer-Aided Drawing
• Computer literate
