Job Description
The purpose of this position is to provide technical knowledge on projects and perform rotating equipment engineering on intermediate to moderately complex assignments.
Establish equipment requirements, specifications, and prepare mechanical equipment data sheets for pumps, fans, blowers, turbines and compressors
Perform and check calculations, specify equipment and solve problems of simple to moderate engineering complexity
Review and approve vendor lists, prepare quotation requests / bid tabulations / purchase orders and review substitutions for technical acceptability
Review vendor equipment documentation within the discipline and from other disciplines for compliance with project requirements, industry codes and standards, as well as department practices and procedures
Execute project work in accordance with approved Activity Plans and Quality Plans to ensure work product meets defined requirements and standards.
Identify potential changes and/or deviation to the scope then apply change management.
Participate in people development through mentoring, development of training material, and providing support to colleagues
Other duties as assigned
Basic Job Requirements
Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in mechanical engineering field of study and at least five to twelve years of work-related experience; a recognized professional certification or registration in the applicable field
Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, co-workers, clients, vendors, contractors and visitors
Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state / province, and federal / national statutes and guidelines
Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
Understanding of the activities related to design, engineering, and procurement of mechanical equipment through all stages of a project from conceptual phase, front end engineering and design, detailed design, construction, and commissioning
Familiar with different industry codes and standards which include but are not limited to the following:
o ASME B73.1, B73.2, B73.3
o API 610, 614, 617, 618, 619, 673, 674, 675, 681, 682, 685, 686
o HI 1.1 - 1.2
