About the Role
The Derivatives Accountant internally known as the Financial Reporting Analysis Analyst 2 is responsible for ensuring all major financial accounting procedures and controls are functioning at the highest level for the integrity and reliability of financial reporting.
Responsibilities
This position is responsible for the following: oversee general ledger account reconciliations in Intellimatch. Specifically, but not limited to the following detailed accounts: Wash Accounts, Cash and Suspense accounts, Wire In/Wire Out, Receivable/Payables across all legal entities within WFS Operations
The oversight function will include monitoring exceptions for derivatives, and analytics for cash exceptions for daily regulatory reporting. In addition, the necessary investigation will include taking action to clear the exception and/or provide middle office or Product Integrity team information needed to continue the investigation and create resolutions
Perform system to system reconciliations: subsystems to general ledger and subsystem to subsystem
Research and resolve: subsystem breaks, unpostables transactions, settlements differences, accounting (logic) breaks
Participate in testing of system enhancements and identifying control weaknesses in existing processes
Participate in the month end close process for general ledger entries to account for breaks that were identified between reported PnL vs. trading system balances
Perform accurate and timely monthly balance sheet and bank account reconciliations. This includes having a thorough understanding of the accounting process behind the reconciliation in order to properly research and resolve any reconciling items
Market Skills and Certifications
Essential Qualifications
Candidate must be a graduate of 4 year degree in Business with a concentration in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Candidate must have at least 2 years of experience in back-office accounting for all securities and derivatives products for daily general ledger posting
Account reconciliation experience with Intellimatch. Possess a working knowledge of Calypso & GMI subsystems. Possess an understanding of the responsibilities for supporting the derivatives clearing functionality within back-office Operations
Candidate must be: highly motivated, ability to react to change quickly, able to multi-task, able to work well with pressure of deadlines, analytical background, and excellent verbal and written communication skills
