Job Purpose:
Reporting to Director, Finance & Accounting, Digital Enterprise Asia, this role supports the accounting, budgeting and management reporting processes for the Digital Enterprise (DE) platforms being built in Asia.
This role will be supporting the DE Finance and Accounting team to liaise between finance functions across the business units, the Asia Service Centers and the Regional Office on all finance and accounting matters related to DE Asia, providing support on the strategic and annual planning processes, as well as other initiatives that align with the overall DE Asia strategy.
Major Accountabilities:
Support DE Finance and Accounting team to maintain accounting principles & practices and operating guidelines for the build and maintenance of DE platforms in Asia and execute the expense chargeout processes for those platforms to the Asia Business Units.
Support on the closing process, reporting and variance analysis of DE financials across DE servicing entities and Asia BUs, including but not limited to:
Maintain accurate data records in TM1/ other data repositories and deliver financial reports in an accurate and timely manner
Maintain capitalization and amortization for software development intangible assets of DE platforms
Process and validate chargeback invoicing from servicing entities and ensure any allocation true-up is reflected correctly to Asia BUs
Review and monitor vendor payments and perform monthly accrual
Perform payroll, expense and recharge accounting entries by cost centers
Perform necessary reconciliation between entities
Supply DE budget owners with expense spend details by platforms and hubs and provide any necessary support to internal customers in relation to DE operating expenses. Support DE Finance team in developing and managing cost-center and platform level P&L, analytics of capital and OPEX expenditure and budget utilization.
Support finance and accounting matters for the DE legal entity (to the extent it is setup) and the preparation of annual audited accounts. Ensure the accuracy and completeness of all DE financial books, records and reports, implementation of proper internal controls and any tool / financial database to support management of DE financial view.
Review existing DE model workflows and identify opportunities for improvement in the processes, provide any external audit relating support to Asia BUs for DE platform assets and its charges.
Qualifications:
University graduate in Accounting related discipline
7+ years of post-qualification experience and qualified Accountant with recognized professional accounting bodies
Experience working in an IT organization background is beneficial
Excellent knowledge of accounting for systems implementations and large capital projects
Good working knowledge of various accounting principles, e.g. Canadian and local GAAPs, and IFRS and practices in the insurance industry
Experience working in an Agile systems development environment is preferable
Knowledge in Sun Accounting System / TM1 / Tableau / Hyperion would be an asset
Strong computer skills, advanced user of Excel and PowerPoint
