We are looking for an efficient Payroll Clerk to be responsible for all tasks involved in processing payroll. The payroll clerk has a range of duties that include collecting timesheets, calculating wages, and ensuring employees receive their pay on time.
To be successful as a payroll clerk you should be able to carry out all tasks with high attention to detail.
Job Responsibilities:
Collecting and verifying timesheets.
Entering employee information and payroll data into the system.
Answering employees' questions and concerns regarding payroll.
Calculating payable hours, commissions, bonuses, taxes, and deductions.
Processing new employees, promotions, and terminations.
Issuing statements detailing earnings and deductions.
Issuing and delivering paychecks to employees.
Investigating and resolving payroll discrepancies.
Maintaining and updating payroll records.
Preparing periodic payroll reports
Assist in other tasks and initiatives as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
Proven experience in payroll administration or a similar role
Understanding of payroll processes, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
Proficient in calculating wages, overtime, and deductions.
Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions and formulas.
Ability to create and maintain complex spreadsheets for payroll data analysis.
Strong data entry skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
Thoroughness in verifying information before processing payroll, particularly within Excel documents..
Capability to input and maintain employee information in payroll systems with precision.
Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
Effective communication skills to respond to employee inquiries and collaborate with HR and other departments.
Customer service mindset to address employee inquiries and provide assistance.
Understanding of the confidential nature of payroll information.
Ability to handle sensitive data with discretion, especially within Excel spreadsheets.
Analytical mindset to review and reconcile time and attendance data using Excel.
Capability to identify and resolve discrepancies in payroll records through Excel analysis.
Ability to adapt to changes in payroll processes and stay updated on industry trends.
Flexibility to take on ad hoc responsibilities as assigned.
