The Role
Be key member of Security Bank's data leadership team to deliver strategic and transformational value for our customers and employees through data. Security Bank has established the Data Management Office to govern and manage data to ensure data can be trusted. It sets forth the minimum requirements for the implementation of a consistent and controlled approach to create and use data as a critical corporate asset.
The data management head is responsible for the bank's data governance vision. He/she is expected to lead the development, framework buildout, and oversight of the bank-wide data governance program. This position serves as the overall point-person for data governance in the bank.
How you'll contribute
Build a high performing data governance team with the required leadership, influence, and analytical skills; ensure team has appropriate career pathing and skillsets
Own and develop the bank's data governance and management strategy, framework, tools, and implementation plan. This should include but is not limited to:
Defining the appropriate level of centralization or decentralization of data governance
Defining roles and responsibilities (eg. data owners & data stewards per data domains), regardless if this is within business unit or central team
Creation and implementation of a framework to identify and escalate data quality issues, ensure root cause analysis is performed timely, monitor resolution, etc.
Developing monitoring requirements including metrics i.e. heat maps, dashboards, executive reports, etc.
Works with IT leadership to decide on technology and tools used for data governance
Work with his/her team to: (a)Evaluate exposure of data quality deficiencies and ensure effective and timely reporting and escalation (b) Drive change management within the bank to ensure data governance awareness is high
Works with executive team to ensure data policies and standards are clear; in the event of disagreement, serves as the final arbiter on data governance policies and standards
Plan, provide oversight, and drive adoption of bankwide data strategy in partnership with SBC Data Leaders.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Information Technology, Mathematics/Statistics, Physics, Engineering, Sciences or related field.
At least 15 years of experience
Extensive experience in data governance, including deep understanding of metadata, data quality, lineage, and reference data; knowledge of data management applications including process mapping and lineage toolkits
Experience in leading cross-functional teams on data quality initiatives, developing or supporting standards, and leading out data remediation efforts, ideally with banking experience
Leadership skills- change leadership, mentorship & motivation, and ability to galvanize support of others; able to drive culture change
