Position Summary:
The Data Center Engineer provides maintenance of RCCL's shoreside Data Center Infrastructure. Provides preparation work for all facilities, network and hardware installations and works with experienced personnel to modify, upgrade and maintain the environmental and/or data support systems within the Data Center environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Under limited supervision, will perform analysis and resolution of infrastructure related problems. In this position you'll be responsible for managing the maintenance, upgrading, and 24 X 7 support of the environmental controls (electrical, Uninterruptable Power Supply, battery backup systems, cooling, HVAC and emergency backup generation), racking and stacking infrastructure on shoreside datacenters while also assuring the proper commissioning and optimal functioning of the building systems including electrical, mechanical, fire/safety.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and two years related work experience or six years related work experience post high school • Two years of experience in operation, installation, design and maintenance of electrical mechanical and/or fire suppression systems • Two years of experience in facilities maintenance • Two years of experience with Uninterrupted Power Supplies and Power Distribution Units, Diesel Generator Systems, Electrical Distribution Systems, DX or split systems Air Conditioning Systems, Fire Suppression Systems and local codes and the effects on operations within the Data Center • One year of experience with Environmental Monitoring software (i.e. Automated Logic Web Control and Alert) • Electrical and/or Mechanical Certification desired.

Describes the telltale signs of an impending crisis and what can be done to mitigate the situation.

Reviews crisis management and disaster recovery plans for currency, adequacy, and validity.

Technical Troubleshooting
Directs the resolution of communications problems in multi-vendor environments.
Facilitates the distribution of releases reports and correction packages to departments or clients.
Coaches others on advanced diagnostic techniques and tools for unusual or performance-related problems.
Emphasizes the business impact of failure and the criticality and timing of needed resolution so that problems can be avoided in the future.
Resolves a variety of hardware, software, and communications malfunctions.
Creates trouble reports for all issues found and reviews solutions for completeness and correctness.
Contingency and Disaster Recovery

Directs the implementation of backup and disaster recovery plans.
Oversees the overall installation and maintenance of data center facilities.
Participates in the review of data center energy efficiency and recommends appropriate solutions.
Facilitates the implementation of data center operation strategies.
Provides technical solutions architecture and documentation on data center designs and configurations.
Develops standards and principles of effective data center design"
Data Center Administration
Participates in the construction of the data center by considering the organization's use of equipment, systems and various other components.
Adheres to the data center's administrative policies and guidelines.
Interacts with data users (or customers) in order to provide excellent data center services.
Assists in the data center design, while considering the organization's size, budget and IT needs.
Maintains the data and the center's equipment to ensure the security and stability of materials under construction."
IT environment
Instructs on day-to-day IT operations: business impacts, priorities and dependencies.
