Job Description
TAX COMPLIANCE
Aligns and ensures consistent treatment of similar tax matters for all Philippine group companies
Keeps an overview of material tax topics and potential tax risks for all group sectors in the Philippines
Final review of Income Tax returns
GRC reporting for tax risks for Philippine entities
Manages tax audit inquires, coordinate between local finance / tax teams and tax advisors, supervise responses, define audit (negotiation) strategy together with tax advisor and align with Global Tax Function
Ensures implementation of appropriate counter measures in relation to tax audit findings
Reviews of local tax reporting (GTC tool)
Leads and prepares Pillar 2 reporting and compliance
Preparation of local transfer pricing documentation (based on global template)
Ensures the correct understanding and implementation of the group tax department policies in the local companies
COORDINATION AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Regular communication between Philippine group companies, tax authorities, tax advisors and Group Tax Function on all significant tax matters
Reports to / collaborates with Group Tax Function
Regular Jour Fixe with local group companies and Group Tax Function
Serves as first contact in tax related projects for project team, Group Functions or BA
Initiates and coordinates of tax driven projects (e.g. reorganizations, corporate measures etc.)
Initiates, develops and implements tax-relevant or tax optimization / planning concepts and ideas
Initiates tax-related digitalization projects
Defines local tax processes / directives
Evaluates extraordinary events or transactions outside day-to-day business for tax impact upon request of Philippian group companies, as needed
Lobbying work (e.g. during legislation)
TRAINING AND KNOWLEDGE TRANSFER
Monitors tax legislation and regulatory developments (Income Tax, VAT, Transfer Pricing, Pillar 2 etc.), evaluate possible relevance for the Philippine entities and communicate accordingly
Establishes and runs an internal / external training landscape for relevant tax topics and legislation changes for all group sectors in the Philippines
Enables transparent knowledge exchange between all Philippine tax responsible persons in all group entities as well between local level and Group Tax Function
Qualifications
Bachelor / Master university degree with tax and/or accounting focus
3 to 5+ years experience with industry and/or large tax consultancy firms in the field of domestic tax compliance + reporting and, ideally, also in international tax law and tax planning
CPA qualification, optionally BIR tax agent certificate
Strong knowledge in domestic tax law, especially Income Tax, VAT, withholding taxes, local taxes, and experience with tax compliance and tax audit procedures for corporation
Basic understanding of international taxation fundamentals and domestic transfer pricing regulations
Profound experience with tax compliance for PEZA-registered corporations
Ability to organize, prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks and deadlines; capability of working well under time pressure
Experienced in project management
Capable of working independently and with limited supervision; ability to take decisions
Ability to work with global teams and to build relationships with several internal and external stakeholders
Strong analytical thinking, strategic mindset and negotiation skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills incl. strong written and spoken English skills
Advanced experience with MS office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Ideally, experience with SAP and/or Amana GTC
