Working Hours: 40 hours per week with periodic extended hours, as needed (Full time)Job Description:The Cost Accountant applies principles of cost accounting to conduct studies which provide detailed cost information by performing the following functions below. Maintains and improve processes and controls associated with manufacturing costs and inventory valuation. Travel is not required. This position has no personnel management responsibilities and reports to the Cost Accounting Manager. The normal shift is 40 hours per week, with periodic extended hours, as needed. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.Key Responsibilities:
Prepares and analyzes monthly journal entries and account reconciliations relating to inventory
Analyzes raw material and finished goods inventory accounts for proper recording of various transactions affecting cost of sales and prepares journal entries as needed, reconciles month-end account balances to raw material and finished goods inventory reports
Analyzes actual manufacturing costs and prepares periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
Reviews PO Activity matching to invoicesReviews and analyzes inventory variancesReconciles prepaid inventoryQualifications:Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university * Four years of related accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
Must have a strong cost systems background and have excellent analytical skills; sound understanding of accounting principles
Proficient in Microsoft Excel * Excellent analytical skills with a strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail.Demonstrated ability to streamline and automate complex processes * General awareness knowledge of the ISO9001 Quality Management System requirements, company Quality Policy and your contributions to the effectiveness of the QMS;
Responsible for being knowledgeable of and acting in strict accordance with the requirements of all relevant laws, regulations, and Company policies, including, among other areas, Food and Drug Administration regulations.
