Key Responsibilities
Tasked with managing Maersk empty containers in IDP, the candidate will be responsible for the management of Maersk inland depot facilities, container supply and vendor relationships with a focus on improvements in efficiency, customer experience and cost of operation.
This individual will be based in the Maersk Jakarta or Manila office, responsible for the delivery of container demands, working within the agreed supply parameters and customer requirements. They will be responsible for delivering improvements in asset utilization, process, and operating cost. This individual will come with a strong strategic mindset, a proven record of successful leadership and transformation, to further expand our customer centricity and digital journey in IDP.
As a leader, this individual will be required to take an enterprise wide approach, looking at not only how to improve the function, but having a clear vision for how he/she can play a vital role in delivering the Logistics and Services ambitions of the area.
Constantly challenging the status quo, applying and fostering creativity within the team is essential to be successful in this role, along with ongoing development and challenging individuals to strive for the next level. The successful candidate will be able to exhibit and share real cases of all the above.
As a key leader within the Execution team in IDP, they must possess the ability to engage with local senior management, sharing priorities and ongoing performance within the function to ensure alignment.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure overall equipment management standards and process are improved and standardized
Ownership of the strategic vision for IDP inland operations in collaboration with local Procurement and Product teams
Forecasting and ensuring accuracy are actively measured and improved
Process improvement, driving digital and other creative solutions to business challenges
Identifying cost savings, working with customers and senior management to reduce both repair and positioning cost exposure
Engage customers to provide innovative solutions to challenges with equipment
Asset optimization and improvements to utilization
Build and establish a structured and standard performance engagement with key suppliers
Ensuring regular supplier audits are carried out, inputs are captured and shared
Drive cost:
Improve process by removing wasted activity
Support PRO in identifying key strategic opportunities
Understanding of commercial and pricing drivers/inputs. Playing an active and engaging role with Regional Ocean management to leverage optimal cost outcomes
Identify known inefficient container flow patterns and actively work with stakeholders to eliminate these
Effective and regular reporting on business performance:
Actively share financial and service delivery performance and focus areas with Area Leadership
Set clear priorities for the team and create regular follow up and tangible actions to drive these
Establish a strong performance management platform, structure and culture within the team
People:
Direction setting; being actively involved in understanding and promoting the vision of the Area/LOC and wider organization
Inspire others to personally connect and set clear expectations on how they contribute to the organizational direction
Nurture and identify talent with a view to develop a strong succession pipeline
Build engagement through creating a positive, challenging and constructive environment
Support growth and development by assigning projects and tasks aimed at testing individual ability and competencies
Set clear priorities for the team and create regular follow up and tangible actions to drive these
