What would you do?
As an F5 Consultant, you are an innovative engineer working in partnership with our clients, advising them how to use F5 solutions in order to meet their business objectives or overcome problems. You are a leader with vision, providing strategic mentorship and subject matter expertise to customers with regard to implementation and configuration of the core F5 BIG-IP products.
You are the face of F5 while engaged on customer projects and are key contributors fostering a positive relationship between customers and F5 through effective communication and successful delivery of the solutions. You understand and communicate goals and critical success factors for the project; have a dialog on ideas persuasively and pace the communications properly. You understand and articulate goals and critical success factors for the project, engage in collaborative dialogue to ensure client needs are met, and maintain timely communication. You become their trusted advisor.
You continue to grow your expertise in their primary and auxiliary product as well as broaden your product knowledge of all F5 products. The primary focus of work will be deliverable fulfillment and customer expectation management. At times, heavy travel can be expected for on-site work with customers and partners. Engagements can be longer-termed events measured in months or shorter-termed events measured in days.
Focus and Responsibilities
Provide technical guidance to customer onsite and/or remotely regarding the implementation, configuration and maintenance of the F5 products independently or with a team
Perform as project lead and/or key contributor for problem identification, systems architecture definition, solution design, implementation, testing, client training, deployment, troubleshooting and documentation
Maintain working proficiency in F5 products and technologies through self-directed and formal training
Identify additional product/services opportunities in customer organization
Assist with the documentation of recommended practices in developing and deploying F5 solutions for reuse by F5 and Partner engineers
Responsible for upholding F5's Business Code of Ethics and for promptly reporting violations of the Code or other company policies.
Maintain proficiency of F5 products and technologies through self-directed and formal training.
Maintain availability and flexibility to allow for maximum utilization.
Customer Management
Perform project management activities, schedule/scope management, project status updates, and expectation management for the delivery of work
Engage with multiple F5 teams including but not limited to F5 Support, F5 Product Sales, and F5 Professional Services Sales
Negotiate tough client situations with both customer and F5 environment as needed to gain equitable solutions.
Manage customer interaction and engagement over the course of the assigned projects; including documentation and follow-up.
Demonstrate ability to become trusted advisor within customer environment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Self-starter and able to work independently, while also able to share responsibilities, ideas and other information.
Proven experience to work as part of a team of Engineers and to deliver one or several projects simultaneously.
Demonstrated ability to articulate and transfer complex ideas to a wide audience through both verbal and written communication.
Self-motivated and adaptable to changing environments.
Demonstrated strong written communication, presentation writing, and technical documentation skills.
Experience managing multiple concurrent network and security projects
Experience with public cloud implementations such as Google Cloud, Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure.
Experience with one or more orchestration/container technologies such as Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes.
Understanding of NFV/SDN technologies, ideally coupled with experience using OpenStack, VMware NSX, Cisco ACI
Experience with scripting and development in *nix shell, Perl, Java, JavaScript, Python, C/C++, or similar environments.
Demonstrated understanding of technologies such as firewalling, application availability and security, web gateways, authentication/authorization, encryption, VPN's and network architecture.
WAFs, Routing, Switching, Multi-Tier Applications
Knowledge of common networking concepts with a thorough understanding of Ethernet, IP (IPv6 and IPv6), TCP, and UDP.
In-depth knowledge of the HTTP protocol and related technologies, such as HTML, XML, JSON, AJAX, and JavaScript.
Working knowledge of Linux, UNIX, and Windows variants.
Working knowledge of cryptographic concepts and implementations (OpenSSL, DNSSEC, SSL, PKI, IKE).
Working knowledge of AAA related technologies: Active Directory (AD), LDAP, NTLM, Kerberos, SAML, RADIUS, DIAMETER, and TACACS.
VPN and tunneling technologies: IPsec, SSL, PPTP, GRE, MPLS.
Tcpdump, snoop, ethereal/Wireshark and other packet sniffing software or products.
Security certifications (OSCP, OSWE, GIAC, CISSP, Security+, etc), preferred

Physical Demands and Work Environment
Duties require the ability to travel up to 75% via automobile and airplane and may require periodically outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends).
Job may be performed on-site at a customer facility or data center, or in an office environment sitting at a desk. When not on-site at customer location, the position may be remote or at nearest F5 office.
