About the position
The Communications Consultant for Asia plays a pivotal role in facilitating seamless internal and external communication strategies. Working closely with the Communications Officer for Asia, this position's responsibilities include crafting compelling content for diverse audiences, contributing to the Alliance's social media platforms, and providing valuable research support to enhance the organization's outreach efforts. This position requires a keen understanding of regional dynamics and cultural nuances for Asia, alongside excellent research communication skills.
Roles and Responsibilities
Work closely with the regional communications officer to develop and promote various communication products for Asia, including media releases, digital materials, podcasts, and videos;
Coordinate deliverables among research teams and service providers;
Manage media relations in Asia in coordination with regional, global, and media engagement officers;
Maintain digital evergreen content portfolio of the Alliance in Asia;
Support in the implementation and dissemination of internal communication activities in the region with input to the Alliance's global internal platforms (newsletter, SharePoint, townhalls, etc);
Plan and organize internal sharing and capacity building events for staff;
Capture regional participation in key national and international events in Asia and globally;
Support the regional management and project management teams in the creation of relevant communication materials and plans; and
Participate in key One CGIAR activities in Asia and the Pacific
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in communication, development communication, journalism, communication research
At least 2 years of experience in science and research communication
Skills Required
Mandatory
Extensive understanding of the Asian food system contexts, with knowledge of global challenges such as nutrition, climate, gender equity, poverty reduction, or other similar topics is a plus
Skills to produce multiformat and creative content for various internal and external communications is a plus
Experience with photography and/or videography desirable
Knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud, SharePoint, and Office 365 applications
Excellent written and oral communications skills in English
Preferred
Ability to multi-task/prioritize and to relate positively and engage with a wide range of people
Proven ability to integrate, inspire and develop multidisciplinary teams and manage talent, with a strong commitment to promoting diversity, knowledge sharing, and staff development
Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team with people in a multi-cultural and multidisciplinary environment, including with external stakeholders, and excellent interpersonal skills
Terms of contract
This is a consultant position that will be based in Los Banos, Philippines and available for Philippine nationals only. The initial contract will be for one (1) year and is renewed annually based on performance and availability of project resources.
